No debt, healthy profits, new rebar regs in China, proven resource of commodity in short supply and new tech called VRFB to assist in energy storeage. Yeah, overpriced...my brown eye

I don't dispute that bmn.. Only rockets go up in straight lines though and it's my opinion that this company needs to change to justify it's price tag.

Well, we can only go by what we are told so on that basis we will probably have to wait until June based on last year's reporting and the fact that BMN like to leave it until the last moment.

I suspect, however, that other events will overtake us long before then, principally the Q1 production report will either suggest that the transformation programme is having a positive effect on production or the problems remain and, perhaps more significantly, Vanadium prices post CNY will indicate the direction of profitability.

23% down over the last 90 days and now here come the rampers, cutting and pasting the same article 5 times day and shouting about 40 basis points.

Why waste your time Dontay?

I do hear you JC I just think that at best, that's a method of calculating a rough guesstimate at best and is fine for junior companies with low mcap and bright future ahead of it.

BMN's success and lofty MCAP means people will undoubtedly want more, when it comes to the numbers and it will imo feed the naysayers and those demanding more certainty.

I understand that Plat Hunter. My point is that if you look at the interims they suggest that these numbers are very low. As you know, since the retirement of the (awful) convertibles BMN no longer has any debt.

Further evidence in the interims relevant to your statement:

Cash - £26m at 30/6/18
EBITDA - £31.7m
Profit After Tax - £21.1m

The last two of these indicate clearly the relationship between EBITDA and post tax profit.

Plat Hunter,

The best you are going to currently get on interest and depreciation/amortization is from the interim results. It may not be the full year (we are going to have to wait for that) but it is indicative. I think that you will find the (pro rata) figures are somewhat lower than $80m.

So good news suggesting that the VRFB has been operational for 10 days. Only a further 3 weeks later than the end of year revised target date. No wonder we didn’t get an RNS stating it was up and running before now. More revised targets missed.

Eskom concludes a R15bn loan facility with a consortium of lenders

MEDIA STATEMENT

Friday, 01 February 2019: Eskom has concluded a R15-billion credit facility with a consortium of local and international banks. The government guaranteed facility will form part of the financing of Eskom’s current capital expenditure programme.

“We have made significant progress in transitioning the business and securing funding. We are pleased that lenders have elected to continue partnering with Eskom on our journey to complete the capital expansion programme for the benefit of South Africa’s economy. It is also encouraging to see that financial markets continue to view Eskom in a positive light; as we progress towards financial and operational sustainability”;, said Phakamani Hadebe, Eskom’s Group Chief Executive.

Andre Pillay, General Manager Treasury said: “the conclusion of this facility will ensure that Eskom’s liquidity requirements are timeously fulfilled. To date we have raised and secured approximately 95% of the R72 billion funding requirement for FY18/19; the remaining 5% will be raised through various funding sources including domestic debt capital markets. The stable liquidity position places us in a position to focus on securing funding for the next financial year (FY19/20 of which 30% has already been secured).”

Bushveld Minerals* (BMN LN) 37.3p, Mkt Cap £416.8m –Investor site visit to Eskom highlights potential for new growth

Bushveld took a group of investors to see the Eskom test site for new battery storage installations yesterday
Eskom are looking to install some 800MWh of new battery capacity in an initial phase to support renewable energy projects across South Africa and have been testing battery facilities for some years.
The new battery facilities are likely to come from a mixture of lithium-ion and vanadium redox depending on Eskom site requirements, needs of the South African power system and the results of current trials with each type of battery suitable for differing applications, among other factors.
Vanadium Redox batteries are seen as better for larger-scale operation with longer duration and deeper energy discharge.
There is some $200,000 worth of vanadium in the UET battery, the size of a 20 ft shipping container, installed jointly with the Industrial Development Corporation, highlighting the cost component and importance of the vanadium in the battery. Fortunately the proposed ability to lease finance the vanadium should enable the low cost effective rental of vanadium for rolling out new battery facilities.
Eskom plan to run various protocols (trials) for 18-24 months and while they may start to order larger scale vanadium batteries for grid use in the meantime they may also discover further ‘grid’ applications for this type of battery which may increase the amount of vanadium storage they choose to order.
If Eskom sees that it works and starts using it, other utilities and large customers will follow suit, opening up the market for energy storage and vanadium.
Conclusion: Bushveld Energy should have a good future depending on the completion of the trials which have had a good start and have run for 10 days so far.
