P M S L South Africans should brace for permanent stage 2 and 3 load-shedding for the next two years. That's according to Eskom chair Mpho Makwana and CEO Andre de Ruyter, who addressed media on current challenges facing the power utility on Sunday. Makwana said permanent load-shedding is needed to allow the utility time for much-needed maintenance to the constrained system and to provide consistency in outages for South Africans.He said the new board had met 50 times in its first 112 days in office and a new plan to boost its power plants was approved in December. This is a developing story.

But the company has said it has a plan to end the power cuts within 24 months.Eskom board chairman Mpho Makwana told a press conference on Sunday morning that the state-owned utility plans to implement load shedding at either stage 2 or stage 3 for the next 24 months while it works to end the energy-supply crisis.Makwana said the new plan is aimed at improving Eskom's so-called "energy availability factor" (EAF) from about 58% now to 65% by 31 March 2024 and 70% by 31 March 2025

Load shedding being moved to a regular slot to help people and companies work with it, load shedding should be a thing of the past in 24 months, and stage 8 load shedding not going to happen. Load shedding not a problem for BMN, backup generators and very low diesel prices make this problem easily manageable.
