I remember Alphaville saying BT and BA were worthless when they were around a pound - both went to a fiver. They should be looked into - some people may have sold their investments on their negativity and missed out on Dividends too!

They've done it with countless others too.

Alphaville is typical of the current tactics of deramping or ramping these days.

Share prices are supposed to be halving or doubling.
No halfway measures.

It is amusing to do some research on their past statements going back years.
They are often badly wrong.
....but let us thank them, we make money out of buying cheap.
and it is thanks to them.
That is what it is really all about.

If I was a hedge fund guy and was short BT, I would bung these journalists a few quid for writing such tripe.

..now why didn't they think of that?

Alphaville are always negative - wouldn't take too much notice of them.

Is there any calculation of the loss in FCF on the Openreach price cuts?.

The market always over corrects. It has certainly done that with BT. Anyone would think that BT lost Openreach. It did not.Business as usual.

Also operating cash flow of over £5bn is important.
BT is dirt cheap at these levels.

old fashioned thinking.
a pe of 13 is very cheap these days.
when inflation was 6% or more and you could get a risk free 8% from the building society,
then a PE of 13 was just ok.

but when you can get a mere 1% risk free, then a PE of 13 (7.7% earning), and a yield of over 4%, this is excellent.

My BT dividend payment is automatically re-invested in the stock so at this rate of decline I'll probably get share's at £2.00....

Markets seem to be on the brink of an overdue 5-10% correction which could take BT to new lows so have decided to wait a little longer before re-investing. May even get 6%+ yield. Good luck to all investors whatever your views and strategy.

Because it was unexpected!
£4bn is quite a lot. Especially if it means the deficit is now £10bn instead of £14bn!
Seems a big deal to me.
