VOD halved it's dividend, BT hasn't. In fact BT dividends are rising (Interim 2.4p up from 2.31p). So the BT yield is closer to 6% currently.
So no, BT and VOD aren't likely to merge in terms of share price |
Just tracking VOD...VOD close to multi year lows of 63p...so either BT has some catching up to do downside or VOD has to rise...pick your choice...does that chart looks like double top hit around 160p and reversal... |
Typical UK inveztor antics. BT share price falls on Bad News and Falls on Good News You have to ask what is going on here. |
Quite a fall now, off 10% since the start of December, FTSE down nearly 3% in the same period.
I'd have thought there'd be more buyers at this level, perhaps the fear of the clowns in Downing Street leading us into a recession is keeping investors away.
Worst two performers in my holdings today, BT and VOD. |
Fantastic news.Nice to have that removed as a potential obstacle |

Why is the price reducing ahead of the ex divi date - it just shows the unimportance of the dividend, the company might as well cut it and do something more useful with the money. |
https://newsroom.bt.com/bt-group-leans-on-ai-to-transform-customer-service-experience/Small insight into some of the ways in which we can see how BT can reduce headcount as planned- already a 50% success rate in AI/BOT solving EE customer queries and planned to roll out to the wider group. Suspect we will see more of this as time goes on, helping us shed significant cost and boost free cash flow. |
We are fast approaching an ex dividend date. Why is the price reducing when a reduction of 2p a share is on offer? |

expected - should be instructed! Suet |
Come January BT will have a policy where all staff are expected to be in the office 3 days per week. Currently it is a philosophy but it is changing. |
Like many companies, BT’s office requirements have changed over recent years as the business world has moved to allow staff to work from home more.

IMO the Vodafone merger almost solidifies BTs position in the UK. We're beyond the CAPEX peak now for our roll out- VOD is at the start of theirs now. Vodafone's challenge is their German market. Fingers crossed but BT looks favourable. |
It could imply BT can merge or sell Open Reach ? (if VOD can BT can)
Could be an UP day - but I no idea really. See how it goes. Depends if VOD goes up. |
A big threat coming, could be a plan to buy Vod shares as well. lol |
How will the Vodafone news affect BT? |
