1224sa: The UK cant promote a PROTECTIONIST economic policy as we make money by trading. Protectionism will be economic suicide for UK. Hope that helps. (On the other hand I take the risk that you were be sarcastic - in which case I'm embarrassed - sorry) |

BT slashes sales outlook and axes another 2,000 jobs in ongoing overhaul
It said it slashed its workforce by 2,000, or 4% year-on-year, to 118,000 and saved £433 million in annual costs in the first half alone. |
Got out ages ago as debt just increasing. Stayed with VOD although different business who's been cutting debt and reduced Div, but that's also another dog. This needs breaking up to release value. |
On the face of it the results could be viewed as unexciting - hence the initial market reaction. But given the underperformance is seemingly from overseas units, and the fact we know BT is actively exploring sale amongst parts of that (Ireland amongst it), there looks to be a very nicely streamlined path ahead. We see the CAPEX reduction slowly seeped into these results, in fact able to enhance Openreach rollout without adding to expenditure- dividend slightly up - I suspect people will add slowly on the dip as we approach divi dates. This first couple of Quarterly's were never going to be overly exciting- the good stuff is to come. |
BT share price could surge to 175p as a golden cross nears |
