Looks like Shorts are closing out is my guess. Not sure why they hung on so long with the UK market finding some strength again.

on the overall scale of things and how sector has been panning out, i think the shorters are in way too heavy to be just about results and forwards

So maybe that reduces risk on tomorrow a bit.

But also, id have preferred not to see a rise into tomorrow if i was a bull

Leave it to you guys. Not a position id like to be in. makes choices difficult at event times

Old adage

"You can be right, yet very wrong"

i think that means timing.

If fhmktg is right, it could still be funds in 60% lower for it.

.........

But shorters exposed to financials without 'knowing something'? At that weight? Does not make sense considering they built it up at this 4 or 5 year low

personally if i was holding for results, and got paid, id still dump it after anyway

If its something dated for after, then you would breakeven or a bit of profit i guess.

Not an easy decision at all. one id prefer never to have anyway

The sector has not aided the decision process with VOD and etf inputs being positive

Sit tight and wait for details on net debt,Openreach progress on fibre installation and customer numbers, Free cash flow.
Mr Drahil will be crossing his fingers that Openreach is beginning the increase in cash generation that we have all been waiting for.

That Sir, only you can decide

One thing none of us know, is if the shorters are right or wrong..

We also do not know, if it is results being targeted, or something far worse that comes after

I took some profit on open just in case all is not well..
But left half in just in case it is.
I guess you would call it a hedge.
It had a nice couple of days ....
Now the rest if just for a bit of fun.

That's hardly news! They started those shorts in December when we had the big price drop. CPP seem to follow Kintbury and have made some terrible choices re shorts. DLG for instance which got bid for!

Four major investors have ramped-up bets against BT Group this year as its new boss prepares to update shareholders on the telecoms giant's progress later this week.

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, BlackRock, AKO Capital and Kintbury Capital have collectively amassed a short position of almost 2.8 per cent of BT shares, regulatory data shows, reflecting bets against the group worth around £300million in aggregate.
