Spending close to 7 million every day on buybacks. They going to blow through the 1.5 billion well before 2025 at this rate.

They're keeping it down well for the buybacks I have to say.

Looks like buybacks are 280,000 to 300,000 a day, underpins shareprice nicely.

Policing a limited number of licensed outlets is easier, cheaper and more effective than trying to control a myriad of free-for-all outlets that are too often too happy to sail too close to the wind, accepting illegal supplies and selling to underage youth.

Abolitionists should not let their distaste for BAT lead them to fight against a licensing proposal which actually brings about a healthier regulatory framework.

Banning disposable vapes will not be "effective", the boss of the UK's largest tobacco firm has told the BBC.

Tadeu Marroco, chief executive of British American Tobacco (BAT), also said raising the smoking age would have "non-intended consequences".

Just purchased my first tranche this morning. Had my eyes on this baby for a long time. I was teased constantly by the 10% yield but I somehow kept my composure but she finally seduced me once the buybacks started. Looking forward to a nice 2.5% divi every 13 weeks

Hope the price stays low enough for the new tax year so I can make further purchases.

My thoughts exactly. Patience is key, and collecting the bumper regular divis!

They are buying back until end of 2025 if I read it right. Then I suppose they could sell another tranche of ITC and more buybacks or special dividend, whatever they do I think it's looking good for us. Collect the dividend on the way every 13 weeks.

I suppose that's why Bats this low price instead of being 2800p.It's all in the price, one thing they are buying back shares at this low price, so opportunity for Bats in a roundabout way, lol.

#8756 I agree with you, the stock is cheap but I am wary of investing such a large proportion of my portfolio in this. For me it's 4%. I am not averse to taking large positions indeed AV and LGEN are about 15% each of my portfolio. I still can't get past thinking of tobacco firms as potentially being in run-off with the non-combustibles as being a side hussle which may or not work out. Personally I'd like to see them spending capital on other non-tobacco industries like RJR did with Nabisco or indeed BAT with Allied Dunbar to gradually morph into a different, uncontroversial conglomerate. I know this isn't going to happen any day soon! (understatement). GLA :)

This stock is now ridiculously cheap.

BATS is now 15% of my portfolio but I’m buying more.

Salty.

I go short from time to time on a share, but my two golden rules, don't short a stock with a massive dividend and never short a company with a buyback program in place.

The bears must be stunned, they got to pay back 58.8p. They must of thought 75p fall today.

It’s done very well on back of a bull uk market due to interest rate news from BOE. Down 28p whilst banking a 58p divi is good business. It wants to push higher roll on 2500p

Share price fallen more than the stripped out dividend on a strong market day.

Disappointing.
