.."if I was not already a BAT shareholder I would probably not invest
in the company at the moment, regardless of price .."

In fairness it's a detailed article, so perhaps unfair to attempt a very brief
summary, however that was the stand out to me. Others might read it differently.

This is John Kingham from April 2018, just to clarify. Remember he may have
since changed his view.

EI I must have read a different article on Seeking Alhpa. I read he thinks it is oversold and has bought and is buying further on any weakness.

M, ah ok, did not realise you were not registered.

In a nutshell - he holds already, but because of their net debt and
given declining cigarette volumes, he would neither add, nor buy if he did
not already hold, at any price. I was surprised by the ..at any price comment.

I tried reading the Seeking Alpha article but it locked me out requiring my details which I am a bit reluctant to give.

What was the gist of the article?

Divi does look tempting, but this could easily fall further if the FDA are hell bent on killing the tobacco industry. I say it's a strong buy if the FDA is bluffing, if they are not, then this is no way near the bottom. Good to see JUUL given the boot, should give Big Tobacco some time to get things together again.

cascudi, you can invent news, but then the FCA puts you in jail, so there is no profit in that.

The consumers are addicts at the end of the day they won't stop because they can't get menthol the only downer is a slowly shrinking market so BATS need new income flow eventually but they generate enormous profits with divis fully covered currently nearly 7%

Mind you...a drop from £35 to £28 on the basis of a unproven WSJ report that even if true would simply mean menthol users switching to other ciggies in 2 - 6 years time IF the ban actually happened did seem a tad overdone!
