BP PLC said Tuesday that it is entering a partnership with Microsoft Corp. to further digital transformation ‎in energy systems and advance the net zero carbon goals of both companies.

As part of the deal, the FTSE 100 oil giant will supply Microsoft with renewable energy to help the U.S. technology company meet its 2025 green energy goals.

"BP will supply renewable ‎energy to Microsoft across multiple countries and regions including the U.S., Europe and Latin ‎America," BP said.

In addition, as part of its collaboration with Microsoft, BP said it has extended an agreement for it to use the Microsoft Azure cloud services.

Both companies have signed a memorandum of understanding which also includes commitments to collaborate on city sustainability initiatives, co-develop clean energy parks, explore ways to empower energy consumers to manage their home energy use, and to deliver Industrial Internet of Things solutions to BP facilities.

BP last week announced that it would enter the U.S. offshore wind market through a partnership with Equinor, which included a $1.1 billion investment in two wind farm projects.
