-- The board of the London-based energy giant is expected to decide on the appointment before reporting its full-year results on Feb. 6, Reuters reports.
-- Thomson was appointed interim CFO after then-CFO Murray Auchincloss was named interim chief executive on Sept. 12.
-- BP didn't immediately respond for comment when contacted by Dow Jones Newswires.
