It's dropped today; so the 2p rise today is worth 10p for those that held onto shares.

No ex dividend date is today, but the shares have gone up! Lucky holders from last night can sell today and still get the dividend.

How does share price drop on 8th when it's a bank holiday?? It's meant to drop today the 7th. And it did but not my very much. The reason why the record date has been moved to the 11th is because theres no trading tomorrow otherwise the record date would have been 8th.

Tomorrow is the 7th Today is the 6th. If you hold any shares at the close today you get the dividend. If you buy any tomorrow they do not qualify for the dividend. It doesn't matter what the record date is, that's just a BP administrative matter.
That's what the Ex Div date means. They are Ex Div tomorrow, on the 7th.

best stick to posting opinions, rather than supposed facts. For facts people need to read RNS and RNS only.

NY Boy - can you remove the last sentence from your post 92060 -
its misleading at the very least.

"Ex div has been changed to Monday 11 May (still today and tomorrow for dividend hunters) GL"

Yes apologies record date 11 May, anyway, most aren’t selling over the short term but accumulating for a longer term recovery play..survive & thrive here!

I have already built into my calculations a 50% divi cut, may or may not happen. Oil prices have stormed higher, since the lows, reasons to be cheerful

A lot of time wasters and careless comments - it's a free BB, so to be expected. It can be amusing at times. Thanks to all that contribute useful info and genuine views.
