Incessant and unseasonal rains in southern africa end nov / beg dec placed the national power generation utility eskom under stress, which in turn resulted some mining companies including petra diamonds ceasing operations for a time; Bod' operation would not have escaped. December is also summer hols time in southern africa so like europe in august business winds down for a few weeks. Patience may be needed.

I would have used the word cunning, but yes plenty of savvy in this deal. Bod is not being given credit for these kinds of innovative deal and the leverage they bring.

The agreement gives EDC a contract for the mining and processing of the identified deposits on the Marsfontein Mining Permit, with 25% of the pre-tax revenue from larger or high value ‘Special Stones’ (any stones weighing 10.8 ct or more, or valued at more than $8,000/ct) and 15% from the standard run of mine stones accruing to Vutomi, which is 40% owned by Botswana Diamonds.

The words on royalties are pretty clear. There is a picture of marsfontein on the annual report cover - which you have presumably not read. As mining 101, these operations cost money to startup, which bod clearly does not have. They have done well in securing 3rd party financing, at the same time as passing off operational risk, whilst retaining upside on the top line.
