13/5/2019 16:54 | Same here bulk sampling and production by end of June.Botswana Diamonds finishes drilling at Thorny River projectCecilia Jamasmie | Apr. 4, 2019, 5:16 AM |Percussion and core drilling in progress at the Thorny River project. (Image courtesy of Botswana Diamonds.)Botswana Diamonds (LON:BOD) said Thursday it had concluded drilling on the Frischgewaagt and Hartbeesfontein farms, which form part of its Thorny River diamond project in South Africa. The next step, the miner said, is to obtain the necessary regulatory approvals to start the bulk sampling program, which is expected during the second quarter of the year.Botswana Diamonds has also finished refurbishing a nearby processing plant to process the bulk sample kimberlite. The next step is obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals to start the bulk sampling program, expected to happen before the END Of JUNE. Early-stage work is also progressing on potential secondary diamond deposits in the area, with a number of targets identified, the miner confirmed, adding that the nearby and worked-out Marsfontein diamond mine was host to eluvial diamond deposits running at grades of 1,433 carats per hundred tonnes.Last year, Botswana completed Thorny River's technical and economic study, which indicated potentially positive economics using the top end of the 46-74 carats per hundred tonnes grade and $120-$220 per carat value ranges.Botswana, which was overtaken by Russia as the world's top diamond producing country in 2014, is grappling with aging mines, as well as power and water shortages.Still, the nation is home to some of the world's most prolific diamond mines, including Lucara Diamond's (TSX:LUC) Karowe operation, where the now-famous Lesedi la Rona, the second-largest gem-quality diamond to ever be found, was unearthed in 2016.Besides diamonds, the country also produces nickel, copper, coal and iron ore. | demonboy

13/5/2019 14:06 | Interesting theory demonboy. I suspect BOD might be insuffiently progressed down the development pipeline for Lucara, and in the event that Lucara were seeking something their need would be to merge with another brownfields producer in order to realise immediate synergies. Gem comes to mind, as a merger would create a specialised large diamond producer and marketer. Throw in ASX listed Lucapa and consolidation in Lesotho would be achieved at the same time. BOD is much further up the development pipeline, so a transaction with them would be subject to appetite for blue sky. All the diamond addresses in this combination are good for a winner though. Lucara must be be digging the barrel for news as the large stone recently displayed was dark and looked industrial to me. | atlas1234

13/5/2019 02:58 | . A potential new investor, itself a large diamond producer with new ideas and keen to find new kimberlites in Botswana, is interested in acquiring 50% of Sunland. The reason why is because BOD sold the karowe mine to Lucara where there is still exceptional diamonds being found very quite often. A deal like that of before could be very interested now that they BOD could do an even better idea. I'm sure that they have a good relationship with Lucara from the past and while still mining in Botswana. | demonboy
