Or maybe he was aware of, and wanted to avoid, the Streisand effect. Which you've just proved he was right to fear.

There you go, you've learnt something tonight. You can add that to your bs hypothesis next time. You're welcome.

Agnih1r, agreed. There is obviously truth there but goodness it seems like every stone has been upturned from the last 20 years. Get to the bottom of the story, sort the problem and move on.

Oxford, how do you get to that conclusion. Let me answer for you, there is no logical link but you are short and want your moment of glory adding your made up little addition to the pile!

Jaswal Fashions statement in Guardian; The company said in a statement it was not sure who was supplying all of its garments. Jaswal Fashions, which was initially named as the supplier in the Sunday Times report, told the Guardian it had not traded from the premises for two years.Times story losing credibility.

Saltaire - your number and "analysis" are bs. They bear no resemblance to any kind of reality. If it takes a machinist 10 minutes, the labour cost at 8.75 an hour, per garment is £1.45. It adds less than a quid to the cost.
Yes the cost is more, assuming that the suppliers weren't just pocketing the wage money and falsifying books, but nowhere near as bad as you laughingly tried to make out saying clothes are going to cost them twice as much.

So, many assumptions.

The shorts are assuming all (or vast majority of) the clothes are being manufactured at sweat shops on illegal labour practises.
They're assuming that, even if this is true, Boo couldn't then source from somewhere else at similar cost.
Thus they're assuming margins are going to be hit significantly.
They also assume that in a fortnight once post lockdown party season gets going, Little Miss Partygoer who wants a new top is even going to care or remember.

I remain long. I accept the short term might go against me and I have a position I can afford to go to zero.

I will be amazed if I can get a position on this tomorrow, or indeed if anyone can before it gets either suspended or stuck with a reduce position only by who ever your platform of choice is. Let's see...

@mauricemonkey - as I explained in my post, my numbers were just to illustrate a point about the impact of NMW on BOO’s costs. Their third party supplier cost must be a significant cost to the business, and if their model’s built on a direct cost of £3.50 per hour for supply chain labour their price advantage is now toast.

The reason all these millions of kids buy their stuff is not because of their superior quality, it’s because it’s cheap.

I do think that the impact of NMW compliance within their supply chain is going to stuff them.

Salty.

big question: what will happen tomorrow? My bet is the price will come down another 50p and then rally a little. The police are in. Govt wants to know. BLM.My view is that the bosses must have known. Everyone in the trade knows. So we are likely to lose some of the board. Prices of fashion will rise. Boo Hoo is in real jeopardy. Short.

Interesting reading the posts and would say not all Leicester companies operate ethically, but...Morefray does not employee anyone on £3.50 an hour !Police/h&s came in on Fri and reviewed Morefray processes and procedures. They found a single issue to clear a fire exit which was resolved but there were no illegal workers and no unsafe working practices. In fact, Morefray employed a specialist Company 3 weeks ago to update working practices for employees ensuring to COVID-19 practices. They were also closed during the initial phase of the virus abiding to government guidance.

I think in this instance the "influencers" are the important element. If Boo can show this issue cleared up and properly investigated then a new "trend" will put this back on a firm footing.

A few thousand comments on IG isn't too bad and if you look closer the comments are not from "target audience" but rather people looking to raise the awareness. I think that distinction is also a factor
