11/12/2000 22:31 | Morally thanks for the info; what I mean is will the share price go down once the special dividend is paid out (ignoring the effect of the share consolidation exercise)? Buying now I'll be entitled to the special dividend I agree but will my BCI shares go down by a proportionate amount to reflect the BCI special dividend? | cpap
10/12/2000 23:48 | Underperforming slightly now due to tech recovery. Tech's go up cement goes down. I like BCI cos they bought Heracles which should provide lots of materials for the Athens Olympics plus LaFarge still own a large chunk and may bid again after May next year. I bought at 427p and will hold for now. Currently looks fully priced when looking at the chart. I don't understand your question; shareholders as of 18th Decmeber 2000 qualify. Best regards. 10/12/2000 22:21 | Is BCI worth buying now for the special dividend? Can anyone advise? Will my purchase of shares be devalued to reflect the payment out of the special dividend? | cpap
06/12/2000 00:45 | A 17 million trade, what the heck was that? | morraly bankrupt
23/11/1999 18:40 | Zak, Yeah, surprised at the recovery. Interesting that the bid didn't move up with the offer, spread of about 10p at close- normally only 1-2p. Without fresh news or further press comment, the Merrill note this morning spooked me. Maybe got out too early, but hopefully if it kicks off again, there'll be enough time to get back in. Have a great time in New York. | tubby
23/11/1999 16:51 | Zakalwe, have a great time, and Happy Birthday to the poor girl. Remember it's the custom in New York to ride in the front of yellow cabs and the locals expect visitors to go to the front of queue. Touch the bulls nose for me. A. | aquila
23/11/1999 16:33 | Tubby, Bit of last minute buying for recovery! Still, you never get poor by taking a profit as they say and you may well still be right about the rumour mill not being able to push this one any higher. Luck, Zak. | zakalwe
23/11/1999 16:12 | Akqj10,
Things that never affect my postings: Spelling, being right, being funny, staying on the subject er...shall I go on?
Anyroad, I'm off to the Big Apple for a few days (girlfriends 30th). Hold the fort for a while there's a good man and try not to let that Rage thread get out of hand!! ;-)
Au revoiir, as they say in NY, if they're italians wot can speak french (?),
Oh, yes they do!

23/11/1999 16:06 | Zakalwxyz, not that you've let alphabetical order influence your postings... Abc.. | aquila
23/11/1999 15:05 | Thanks A, you want to stop this you're starting to get a good reputation! Z. Mmmm, opposite ends of the alphabet, just noticed that and it suits me fine! | zakalwe
23/11/1999 14:35 | There's an afx news story with "resolving management issues in the title" a | aquila
23/11/1999 14:18 | Tubby, Fair enough. I obviously got in later thatn you and still have an unbreached stop loss (though not by much), so I'll be sticking it with it in the meantime. Bon chance Zak. | zakalwe
23/11/1999 14:14 | Out of these for the moment, locking in a few % points profit. Merrills note this morning didn't help. Will be back if the Lafarge rumour mill runs again. This mornings drop seems to have stabilised though. | tubby
23/11/1999 00:24 | Zak, Also buying into this rumour. Took a chance, dipped a toe in Friday pm. Any news from Derek/Rajesh welcomed. | tubby
23/11/1999 00:13 | Derek.Rajesh, Following Learjet's example (now why didn't I think of that?) could you chaps have a dig for me? Thank you Zak. | zakalwe
22/11/1999 15:28 | Derek, Good man, that man. That penultimate line leaves some room for specualtion n'est ce pas? Thanks for your efforts, Zak. | zakalwe
22/11/1999 15:27 | Thanks Derek, Maybe I'll ring the Jacqie's nice secretary to explain the rise :) - going up nicely over the last few mins. | tubby
22/11/1999 15:20 | -->Hi, Zakalwe and Tubby, You're obviously both barking up completely the wrong tree!!! The Times' story this morning, under the headline, "Lafarge in frame as bidder for Blue Circle, is "complete fabrication". Who says so? No less than the secretary of Jacqueline Sinclair-Brown, head of Blue Circle's corporate communications department. Why she? Well, finance director J.R.H. Loudon is not in the office this afternoon, but his secretary said she would put me through to Ms Sinclair-Brown for an answer. After first being cut off in mid-stream, I then got back and discovered that the aforementioned Ms was also not in the office today. When I explained why I wanted to speak to her, the secretary described The Times' story as "complete fabrication". "Come now," I said, somewhat haughtily. "You don't think The Times, the old Thunderer, the Paper of Record, would speculate about such a serious matter, do you! "Well, that's what Jacqueline is telling enquirers," replied the secretary, meekly. Do I detect a little bit of priming here? Form your own conclusions - nobody's talking. 22/11/1999 11:42 | All, Just traded these T+15. Happy to do so given the chart but prompted by the broker who says there was some press comment over the weekend regarding a bid from (Lafarge??) but he is hearing 'rumours' regarding a different bid, possibly Hanson who are on the prowl at the moment (apparently). My question is: Have any of you well connected folk heard anything similar? Yours with the usual caveats, Zak. | zakalwe |
