20/9/2018 13:19 | Ok, Deleterious elements aka stuff you don’t want! These have to be managed/removed all steps cost Money, less steps better value. Recently (few months) RIO lost a unit that sadly caused a death of a worker. They also Refitted two other units (They make or rather made 12% of the Worlds TiO2 as a company) They lost a smelter in Richards Bay. Venator had a TiO2 operation in Pori Finland, this unit had its top severely damaged so badly, it’s being wound down and production will transfer around the World. Smelters are being pushed to their limits Globally by two now three factors. First, Demand for Titanium is very high, stockpiles are running low., new uses, (nano particles) they are what makes windows not need as much cleaning on tall buildings and multi other uses. Paints, sunscreens, etc richer people want richer things. Second, Low maintenance during the years when demand was lower and China’s Blue sky policy means poorer quality Ilmenite (also known as Titano Ferrite)was used to produce cheap product but used lots of sulphuric acid - very bad, polluting. Third, Machines are failing because they are run flat out 24/7 as we all know from Star Trek - Scotty would continually tell Kirk that it would blow! Well they are! Our Ilmenite is Homogeneous, it’s the same at Moriusaq as it is at Iterlak and all over the 80km2 hundreds of millions of tons of it, which means when 100 tons of our Ilmenite goes in the machine, the management don’t have to worry that the blend will mess up the machine or blow it’s top because it was full of Deleterious Elements! Right, Simple - someone tell RIO to get their boffins to buy a load and be sensible the Inuit will also help their Greenlandic Brethren achieve their homeland because we will pay royalties. Carry on R. | rampair
20/9/2018 11:34 | Good morning boys and girls. It is as well that I was not around for the fun and games yesterday - it saved me getting involved. Save to say it is my view that Jennings has misled Alba investors into buying on the back of its "comparative" Thule Black Sands which are not comparative with Bluejay's Dundas in any way and has attacked Bluejay and its investors for no reason other than for personal gain and certainly not for altruistic reasons. It has nothing to do with any spat he may have with maccamcd. Stay with the asset(s) and management folks. All the evidence I have seen points to superlative ilmenite bearing sands and evidence of the operation to get ready for mining is disclosed in forgive the pun spades on the company's website, face book and twitter. I am a happy holder - just a bit grumpy at the downturn in price which I attribute to Jennings activities. I agree with the contents of rampair's post 4482 which makes perfect sense. What he did not remind readers about, is that the Dundas sands have far less deleterious material within them and are so homogeneous that it is less likely that a buyer's furnaces will "blow" when used. He has explained it far better than me but it is to do with the temperature of "cooking" which does not need to be as high. | snowyflake

20/9/2018 10:13 | At risk of the Gods of war! There’s a very interesting development in Quebec over Rio’s enlargement of their Ilmenite Mine Basically RIO (our Ilmenite would be excellent for their smelters in Quebec)received permission to expand the 65 year old mine,on Aug 9th, however, the Inuits on who’s land it is were not happy and opposed it without more consultations. It’s a short sea journey to their main works at Sorel Tracy Quebec and I believe RIO really ought to be considering using at least some of the Ilmenite from Dundas as the quality of our product is high with less impurity’s than most. Let’s hope that’s the case. (It’s in French but Google does a decent job!) R. | rampair
