I've been a holder here since last October, 420 looks a good support point and an ideal opportunity to top up ahead of results being announced at the end of the month.

I'd guess it's fallout from worries about AI impact on educational publishers. However BDR should be unaffected as its clients are institutions rather than students (and it's mainly social/humanities) and that provides over 70% of the academic division profits.

No, but overall trend if you look at a 2 yr graph is clearly up but with lots of spikes along the way. Its a holding which I dont worry about

We don't need to engage in culture war issues here, plenty of other forums on ADVFN are riddled with it.

It's brill news.

A friend of mine who works in publishing said to me that Sarah J Maas is going to be a huge seller, mentioned it here a few years ago and her view has been validated in spades.

Bloomsbury Publishing plc issued a year-end trading update with positive guidance this morning. Revenue is now expected to be over £260 million and PBT is expected to be some £30 million for the year ended 28 February 2023. This follows strong trading at the end of the year. Two of the Group’s strongest performances in the year have come from very disparate ends of its publishing strategy - fantasy novels on the one hand and academic digital resources on the other – showing how well the balanced consumer and academic portfolio is working in practice. Valuation is a little unhelpful, forward PE ratio at 16.7x and PS ratio at 1.36x are both 3rd quartile for the Media & Publishing market. Share price is into a 5-month of consolidation but remains in a longer run uptrend. There is a lot to like here, BUY...

Continue the acquisition strategy would expect.

Their rights on the HP books are for 40 years from first publication date?,

Will be interesting what they do with the cash balance. Its already just over 10% of market cap so hoarding much more doesnt seem to make sense. Unless more acquisitions are in the pipeline, I wouldnt be surprised to see a special divi announced alongside the full results

Market expectations of £242m revenue and £27m PTP significantly beaten again. Another >10% beat. Rating looking too low, especially as the record will now show growth against all metrics whereas EPS foreasts were expected to fall. Must lead to some chunky upgrades.

It's basically beaten 2025 market forecasts.....

I suspect that will be outweighed by the more positive reviews from less left-leaning papers. One guy I know intended to buy it to continue his argument over colonial legacy with his rather left leaning daughter.. but in the scheme of things, one book won't make any difference at all.

If this review is anything to go by, did well to avoid it.https://www.theguardian.com/books/2023/feb/20/colonialism-a-moral-reckoning-by-nigel-biggar-review-a-flawed-defence-of-empire
