Creating the global currency in 7 steps
Today's payment systems (payment cards, cash, wire transfers) are old and outdated, which means we’re all bearing unnecessary costs.

Munich, November 23, 2018 - Mynaric (Frankfurt Stock Exchange: M0Y, Scale 30, ISIN: DE000A0JCY11) can today announce that it has been selected by UK-based company ArQit to work on an initial study for ultra-secure data delivery from space.

The collaboration with ArQit aims for the delivery of cryptographic keys by satellites to eventually build a system capable of delivering quantum safe communications. These quantum keys will then be used by ArQit's customers to protect their communications against all kinds of cyber security threats, including those from emerging quantum computers. The project is carried out under a public-private partnership between ArQit and the European Space Agency (ESA), and as well as Mynaric, the ArQit-led industrial consortium is composed of European leaders in their field, such as QinetiQ of Belgium, BT of the United Kingdom and Fraunhofer IOF of Germany.

The project will validate Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) from space to ground to achieve ultra-high levels of security services through a pre-operational deployment. Quantum Key Distribution ensures that if a message is intercepted the recipient will be aware that its security has been compromised.

Arqit getting a share of £20m govt fund.



Another encryption project will be led by Bedford-headquartered ArQit Ltd. It will create advanced receivers to pick up quantum key signals. These keys are used to keep data safe by using quantum technology to let companies know if the data they are transmitting has been accessed.

The projects will receive a share of £20 million from the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, delivered by UK Research and Innovation.

It follows the Chancellor’s announcement of up to £235m of further support to develop the next generation of transformative quantum technologies in the Budget 2018. This includes a new national quantum computing centre, additional investment in the next wave of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund and a training and skills package.

Business Secretary Greg Clark said: “There is a huge future for cutting-edge science in the UK, which is why we are investing in ambitious technologies like quantum in our modern Industrial Strategy.

Initiative Q is an attempt by ex-PayPal guys to create a new payment system instead of credit cards that were designed in the 1950s. The system uses its own currency, the Q, and to get people to start using the system once it's ready they are allocating Qs for free to people that sign up now (the amount drops as more people join - so better to join early). Signing up is free and they only ask for your name and an email address. There's nothing to lose but if this payment system becomes a world leading payment method your Qs can be worth a lot.
