I know the feeling, I'm bogged under with work, so much so I can't even think about video editing, it's probably why I've not used elevate.io for some 6 weeks.
I now eed to stop posting on here and get on with stuff. |
I think Gemini will become Googles new search tool it operates on any browser including Chrome.
I see Chrome becoming a platform rather than a web browser, a platform for users to access key cloud products owned by Google (including Gemini). It will probably contain an app store to allow access to third party cloud based services such as elevate.io
Obviously I'm clueless to what is happening, but the above seems an obvious solution to reduce Google dominance in the browser field via Chrome. |

I don't bother with stuff all the time because there are hoops I can't be bothered with or it wants additional steps. |
GB, there's no point arguing with NickB. He will ALLWAYS have the last word, even if it means arguing against himself! In my view the VRNS was poor. They should not use IM, who gabbles and does not come across well. |

The best free video editor for Linux |
GB You make it sound so easy!
No hobby creator has 3 cameras and a video switcher
elevate isn’t a multi camera editor so while you could do it on simple content you would soon give whoever is editing a serious headache, trust me I have the editing scars on this.
So yes for some creators you’re method is fine but remember the paid version of elevate will have the huge market of Corporate video guys and advertising agency creatives and they will have professional standards to achieve.
Anyway yesterdays vlog rns hit the mark, very surprised by the hate on it but I’m looking forward to the next one if you didn’t like it don’t click on the next one! |

Are there barriers to downloading Chrome, I think I did it in just two clicks.
Think how many keyboard strokes it would take Blackbird to get elevate.io working on Safari, many millions at least and cost us £1m+.
If people see friends using elevate.io then I'm sure they will be happy to do two clicks to download Chrome and 50 or so keystrokes to register elevate.io
In fact it's registration that requires most effort, if they can't be bothered with the few ticks to get to that stage then can't really be serious about finding an amazing video editor. |
Give it a rest on the VRNS - its getting very tedious |
I'm sure Sumit said they were working on it.
Also feels like an easy win to add - it's a barrier to users, ease of downloading chrome or not. |
bonio10000
I don't think that will happen, well certainly not until we have an income flow from the Chrome version.
Users could do what I have done and just download Chrome to use elevate.io It's hardly a difficult process.I only use Chrome for elevate.io. I would never use it for web searches. |
Hi NickB
Your post 21797 - 'it's how the professionals do it'
Yes....but elevate is not about the professionals. You give the example of 'Hollywood film' but we are not targeting film studios or the M&E market.
You know that!
Hollywood film is completely different. M&E is the old 'core' market. They have the BIRD offering. Not elevate!
From the old presentation - M&E was tiny. Top of the pyramid. But BIRD developed the pro and core competences there.
Now they are targeting the people ortegaworm said in his post 21379:
* Hobbyist: Creates purely for fun and self-expression. Shares content infrequently and invests minimal resources. * Casual Creator: Starts to share more widely and enjoys connecting with a small audience. Consistency is improving. * Serious Hobbyist: Invests more time and effort to improve skills and content quality. Begins to consider audience growth. * Emerging Prosumer: Actively works to build an audience and explores monetization strategies. Invests in better equipment and software. * Prosumer: Creates professional-quality content with a focus on audience growth and generating sustainable income.
Although I would add to that pro teams - creative members in an organisation. In particular Marcoms in an organisation.
None of those people above are going to film something 3 times with 1 camera.
You cannot be serious?! To channel McEnroe.
"So in Ian’s case in simple terms he does his piece 3 times each with the camera set up correctly for each angle then in the magic of editing the finished piece looks perfect from 3 angles."
No way....that's not going to happen.
"Pretty standard practice in film and tv production it saves time in having to set up 3 cameras"
Elevate is not targeting film and TV production!
My point is this: - You set up 3 cameras. In 3 positions. - You get 3 lots of footage. All on your ATEM Mini pro iso. - You get 1 lot of audio. syncs with the 3 lots of footage. - You put it all in elevate. Overlay it all then make easy switches between all 3.
Voila!
It doesn't need a multi cam video editor. It doesn't need a vision switcher on set - although you can if you prefer do it that way. In which you have 1 studio person 'live' switching between the cameras. It outputs 1 final piece of footage instead.
Take a guy like Chris Williamson - 3M subs on YT. hxxps://youtu.be/WEP5ubPMGDU?si=AkWQXvBAWCm1l1kg
No doubt he has a team of 10 people supporting those creations. He is absolutely a Prosumer.
But he could save endless time using a tool like Elevate. Record once (on 3 cameras). Send it for editing. Cut the 3 down to 1 final edit. CW reviews the edit. Approves. Gets uploaded to YT. |
Any update on Safari being integrated? |
In same article re Google
"Google is expected to counter with its own proposed remedies by 20 December."
Perhaps Google will reduce Chrome search functionality and promote it as a cloud software platform populated with tools such as elevate.io and other Chrome based products. |
Stiggles loves BIRD
imo

Talk that Google could be forced to sell Chrome!!!
Who would buy it? Surely the new owner would then dominate, so what's the point of regulators forcing a sale if it only transfers dominance to another company. |
Stay cautious! |
You can make excuses if you want but the video looked like a 1st video student effort in my opinion. I have a few shares here but I’m being a bit cautious cos….. The name elevate seems like a conspicuous metaphor for share price hype, and the same with the Bird thing. Ie shares flying. Almost like the share price is all that really matters. I’m not saying this is a heist on investors, as dunno enough about it…..but I like to see a strong dot com home for a serious global presence rather than an obscure dot io. Hence I’m still in the cautious zone. GL tho |
GB
No because it’s not ‘live’ so to get the very best results you would do it on 1 camera even though the end results look like multiple cameras.
If you take a Hollywood film it has essentially been shot on 1 camera even on dialog scenes between two facing actors each camera angle is shot sequently then in editing you put it all together.
This optimises the shot composition, eyelines of the actor, lighting and sound
So in Ian’s case in simple terms he does his piece 3 times each with the camera set up correctly for each angle then in the magic of editing the finished piece looks perfect from 3 angles.
Pretty standard practice in film and tv production it saves time in having to set up 3 cameras
Only way to get Ian his BAFTA 😀
But yeah you could do a multi cam shoot but then to do it properly you would need a multi cam video editor which elevate isn’t Or more compromised a vision switcher on set.
Live is obviously different
Or if Ian was going to do some Tom Cruise style stunt like walking a tightrope into the buildings 5th floor office at the start of the show then I would advise multi camera, then he only has to do it once 😀 |
I think they are two entirely separate morons. Hard to think two such clueless people exist I know. |
No don’t.
Anytime SSB (The Riddler) posts one of his charts the price drops. |
Put up a chart for all the newbies |
I am sure the leaders of the elevate project know exactly what levers to use to achieve the target number of free users and subscribers. To read today that some people think that 40,000 users is a less than an adequate achievement shows how out of touch some people are.
There is no reason at all to believe that the project leaders have tried to maximise the number of free subscribers. Infact we can be sure that this wasn't the objective. Why would it be? They surely want just a sufficient number of users to be able to test the platform, receive sufficient feedback on platform performance, and start to build a following which should lead to subscribers in Q1 2025.
I have no doubt that they have the modernised equivalent of an old fashioned flow diagram which will advise them, with clarity, to do this if that happens and do that if this happens etc.
We should just let them get on with the job in hand, because I feel sure they are winners............ |
