I now myself a. want a simple alternative to Premiere and can't switch to elevate.io in it's current form. Particularly since a year ago when i posted that, I've ramped up my own marketing and b. want elevate.io to succeed, but it won't without a.

Canva and adobe express have that covered
Isn't the market motion pictures and having high fidelity previews in the cloud that the editor in NZ works on with the Director in LA?

But if I need vertical video I have a workflow
You can do great graphics In Canva and import them into elevate which takes your content even higher.
Elevate concept is that it’s a Platform, a central hub if you like it will have plugins from other companies
elevate is going from strength to strength feature drops are speeding up
A huge amount of complex work has gone into elevate so any competitor has a mountain to climb and quickly.
Isn’t that what investors want? Something with high barriers for competitors |

however I do think it's a massive own goal and I can't see any marketing department switching to it in its current form without a native option for vertical format, and again it needs addressing ASAP |

People don’t want to use multiple video editors to do something they expect to be able to do in one. Just give them a bit of time to release vertical. |

if I bring in a 1080w by 1920h video, it defaults to 16:9 with black bands either side |
Elevate exports into the number one video format for the web
Why should investors pay for other formats?
Pay version could have others, why not put in a request?

So I have just edited a vertical video in elevate!
Made a simple template guide lines with the new shape generator
I had a mixture of 16x9 horizontal video and vertical video I was able to re frame the horizontal video for vertical format
Added some text within the vertical confines
Export that then imported into free Canva which every creator has
Added some Canva graphics at the beginning Canvas strength
Exported the video
Perfect results
Canva reminded me it has VERY poor video playback
So just one extra step to do
Marketing wise lets tell all 16 million Canva users about doing their video editing in elevate and design graphics in Canva, very powerful |
@all, you do know Blackbird pro editor has every tech any editor could ever want?
Elevate is consumer spin off of the pro, if anything is needed to be added if needed.
I think they may be fishing for a few "partnerships add ons" to save with certain things.
Eva was vertical if that helps.

I'm sure Blackbird can add ALL the functions you require, but they can't do everything at once. Also some functions do require larger resources, they can't give these resources away for free. Wait and see what you get for your money rather than expecting everything from the free version. |
Just to say it's trivial to export in different formats. I don't know why bird have restricted it (maybe cost of many users?) but it's not a technical challenge.
I don't know why either mcsean, but I doubt it will gain any traction until they do

I just built a 16 track video wall in a browser!
We used to do those tests to find system breakdown points in Avid, elevate is impressive if you look at the wider picture rather than the blinkered vertical one😂 |
