That’s because it’s not failing.

Pay rises all round.

The boasting of £200k in USA revenues in the placing document was a particular highlight.

Investors who bought in after the Bloomberg news will be handsomely rewarded - so long as they have a little patience. This is a short-term decrease in share price to align with the placement price.

At least 14p this time.

The true genius of bird is failing for 20 years and still raising 5million.

If I could raise a fraction of that....🤯

Disappointing news but I guess it could have been worse. With £3.7m cash at the interim stage and new deals coming in then one would have liked to have thought cash wasn't too much of a problem, let alone raising £5m.There will be a number of shareholders who bought in after the Bloomberg news who will feel like they've been 'done', typical AIM etc and they would have a point.Still, it's there, it's done,we move forwards.

Another deal, and that will reassure everyone, then we should get back into the 20’s. Just topped up. IMHO.

If the placing is earnings enhancing the current share price should go up. But it's down so the market clearly sees it as a dilution of existing shareholders financial interests.

bonio10000 I don't think we will have clarity even when we get the audited 2019 accounts.

If you were Bloomberg, and you were about to publicly commit to a 5 year deal on which all of your real-time video output depended, how comfortable would you have been with a balance sheet and cash flow forecast as it was showing yesterday? The deal would most likely have been conditional on the placing - the timing of both these pieces of news will have been carefully coordinated between the underwriting investors and Bloomberg. Good job Allenby. N.B. I imagine the same will hold true of a number of other major corporates - most probably waiting in the wings. Watch this space...

Well, I'm not complaining.
A sensible placing and the quote is now above the placing price with few sells and lots of buying.
Chart still looks good for 40p by Feb imo.

Ouch. Silly me dabbled yesterday at 18p. So felt forced to double up this morning at 15p. Average 16.5. Just a small wager but enough to enjoy the ride if it takes off.

After closing this deal, Blackbird's contracted order book and deferred revenue stands at GBP2.01 million, a record level for the Company and three and a half times larger than at 31 December 2018.

Reads to me it is all deals signed.

If someone could have told the investors at the beginning of August (at 6-7p) that the share price would be at 14 - 18p (it will spring back up after the placement goes through, btw), £7M+ in the bank (at only 11% dilution), the whole-hearted backing of Google and a deal with the US Department of State and the entire global news operation of Bloomberg - and now an expanding US sales operation (how many times have posters on this board commented on the need for this) we'd all be delighted. Add to that the new outlook for the business and the fact that a very commercially experienced CEO - who can see the sales pipeline first-hand - is putting in another £500k. And professional investors, having seen the latest information, have over-subscribed.

Well at least it's not cart before the horse USA as was the case in first venture.

A clearer earnings forecast is needed. Is Bloomberg £700k a year?

The strategy couldn't be more right. They're now just coming up to the sweet spot (finally) and they need to hit the gas. Pedal flat to the floor. They need to make sure there's enough gas in the tank. Note, he's given a clear indication of what to expect:
" ...primarily to strengthen our balance sheet as we enter into larger and longer contracts with bigger companies"

Is this the third or fourth US expansion?

Off to Windermere on the sauce. Hopefully Monday brings a deal.

so they need funding, US operations/setup must be big dollar bills?

BIRD business plan.

When you increase revenue by £100k, try and increase costs by £200k.

And then boast revenues are up.

I forgot about the department of state, although that is only 1 year.

So, at most, Bloomberg is presumably £700k.

Agree Boni - hope the reason was Bloomberg wanted to see balance sheet stability before signing deal, well I hope so.

They are hardly announcing a sale a week? That was also the same excuse for the last placing.

The hope is that this will be linked to Bloomberg and another large deal that wants to see a robust balance sheet.
