I follow 12 labs and watch their webinars, amazing stuff and probably relatively easy to create plugins for elevate.io |
i personally think that with vertical they know that we will (potentially) be flooded with free users who are unlikely to upgrade - so obviously a low priority.
i would have thought the most interesting use of vertical (for now) is the current target market who then want to use ai perhaps to reformat the long form content into vertical shorts and other non 16:9 formats. |
It's clear that AI is moving so fast that what it will be able to do in a couple of years is quite scary. Just look at 12 Labs site to see what they are working on and with who they are partnered including AWS. |
elevate replying to a question on Reddit.
“Support for vertical video is something that’s definitely on our roadmap, but we don’t have an exact launch date yet” |

Thanks for your response.
Yes, the future is extremely exciting on the ai front. |
To be honest, I think Blackbird could technically add absolutely ALL features required by everyone. |
indeed
pointless having the option to share straight to linkedIn or Insta |
"How many of you want a vertical TV in your living room 😂"
Most of us have one in our hand - its called a smartphone and a lot of people use them. |
Hyper Halfway there.
We have the mosaic filter, crop and shapes just need to make shapes into a shape mask
Although I suspect that the future of this is through generative video AI not only could you change the car registration, it’s colour, you could change the car! |
Vertical video is a horrible format for film makers! Drives video editors crazy and camera guys faced with an impossible choice of how to frame a shot
Yet great for selfies
How many of you want a vertical TV in your living room 😂
But yes it exists so we have to provide the tools but do it properly probably with Ai |
Is there a blue out/mask feature for removing people's faces and objects such as car registration plates from clips? I didn't see it when I last looked. I remember Forscene had this feature. |
I’m sure vertical video isn’t far away, as that’s what they had with EVA.
“ eva is a new take on the social video app with users able to shoot footage in full screen portrait” |
Jasper Then wait for that feature rather than be dramatic |
Salmon
I think you are right, it’s an invite with a purpose
Everything on elevate is highly polished on release and they have a very crafted roadmap of features which is probably very similar to the list I posted yesterday |
I am a pro, and without vertical it's dead in the water |
Jasper Vertical is coming in the meantime You could build a template in elevate, do the editing work then pass it through Canva to resize
Pros will have more than 1 app for their work |
That would only make sense if they hadn't been testing for 2 years, were not conversing with users and didn't have a guy running the op with existing knowledge of running a major video editor. |
...or they are now confident that the more experienced users will have what they want but need to spend time on the part of the product those who are inexperienced are likely to use. It makes sense if they had aimed to get the bigger payers sorted as a priority and then are switching to testing the less complex part of the package (much of which has already been the subject of feedback but not necessarily from those who are first timers or casual users) |
Maybe someone can suggest vertical video? |
The alternative perspective/explanation is that they of course know the answers to these questions, and are simply treating the elevate users respectfully, as a part of the elevate family, and are inviting them to comment on their elevate experience. That's a very positive way to treat customers. |
"Why We Need You
We need feedback from users to help us improve. And by the way, you don’t need to be an expert editor to use elevate.io - it's been built to be intuitive so that anyone can use it. Here’s what we’re looking for: • Ease of use: Does the interface work for you? • Feature requests: What else would make this tool indispensable for you • Collaboration: How did the collaborative multiplayer work for you? • Project Journey: from upload to export what was the overall experience like?"
Blimey.
Seems a bit late for that given they started feedback about 2 years ago.
They can't have many active users then. |
I feel fairly confident that if and when they want vertical they will have vertical. |
Probably just as well they haven't marketed to any then. |
