Suggests no further appetite to invest in Bird. I think this is it, they need to demonstrate a revenue generating product. My guess is that most of them take themselves too seriously and that's why the paid launch hasn't happened.
My guess is the launch will fail but over time it could be a success. They need to inject speed. Horrific to think 4 years after the £8M placing they still have no paid tier of elevate despite it being a feature lite version of Blackbird.

cyberpub - 3rd party storage integration has to happen at some point. doubtful will involve mirroring files (which would make the customer pay twice!), only the blackbird encoded footprint need end up on elevate servers. so probable the size (cost) would be much less (average ratio would be question for BB), perhaps only encode the content on demand (further reducing storage burden), even purge encoded data based on age (to reduce it further still). it could be reencoded later if needed. only encoded content on an active project timeline or published via spark would need to be retained long term. if all the content is always uploaded to elevate.io it's a different matter and we take the full hit. |
