elevate.io is carefully crafted by a designer
Upper case E would look dreadful
The logo is clever as it has the Video Play symbol incorporated |
English was never my strong suit but Arm and Apple both start with vowels as do most of their product names. January sure going to be a slow month :-) |
I'd rather spend my time doing temazepam jellies. |
bonio, of your brand examples, two do start with lower case letters...figma and capcut. However, you will notice that none start with a vowel. There are great brand names that start with vowels but generally the rule is not to as it weakens the sound and makes them harder to remember. |
I tend to agree that a more distinct name would have been ideal. However, worth noting that many/most dictionary words, as well as a lot of non-dictionary ideas will have been taken by now, or be too close to something else so risk confusion. Just searching for 'elevate video editor' isn't that hard a task - it comes top of the Google results list, there's probably a bit of SEO going on?I agree also that if the product is as excellent as we hope, then the name not being super distinct won't matter. |
Good idea Hyper Al |
Corporate name Product name
Although our current enterprise product is called Blackbird, maybe that needs a product name
I wonder if we still own Captevate and eva registrations for future products |
NickB
Maybe we should be Blackbird Elevate
Why the separation of Blackbird from elevate? |
Is it Adobe Premiere Adobe Premier
It used to confuse our American editor friends😀 |
Should have called it Unicorn 😀 |
Same.
Seems fine to me. |
The logo looks like a fidget spinner if we are going to go down that route.
I personally don't really have an issue with the name or logo. |
Exactly.
Who would have believed people jump in an UBER now.
What the fk sort of name is that. |
bonio10000
I think the logo is cool.

What the product is called unfortunately matters a great deal. Verbal and written communication by happy users of the product is how the name spreads, I use 'elevate' won't help find it on Google. I use 'elevate.io' works, but beyond techies how many people even know the .io domain name? People need to be able to search for the product without conflict with current word usage.
The product is amazing, so is Blackbirds tech, but the knowledge about elevate.io seems miles from going viral despite 40,000 users, WHY?? |
HB.
Bit late in the day now.
If it’s good, no one will give a fk what it’s called, and they certainly won’t give a fk about a capital letter at the beginning. |
Leave off the name.
It took MV 2 years to come up with that.
And the logo. |
McSean chill out. |
Have to agree that "elevate" is a poor choice of brand name on many levels.
I should not begin with a lower case letter. It should not begin with a vowel. It should not be a standard english word.
It's probably just me but I struggle even to remember what the damn product is called!
Not too late to re-brand it. Could even make a virtue of it for extra publicity. |
reassessing a month prior to paid launch would be very odd. |
Just perhaps there will be a new owner who renames it!!! I couldn't resist saying that! |

Why would someone search for "elevate video editor" if they have never heard of 'elevate'?
I do think using a dictionary word for a product name was a very big mistake as the product can't easily be differentiated from other searches using 'elevate' far better having a unique name like Canva did.
Any suggestions the name will ever change? Maybe the grand launch of 'Hypervate' could change things. 😂 Although just checked and someone is already using that name ☹️ |
Grim start to the New Year for me as a BIRD investor.
I've said it before and have been roundly rebuffed but sadly after nearly 10 years invested, I haven't been wrong when saying share price is a good indicator.
The fact insiders are not buying suggests confidence is low. That does not mean the product will not succeed just there is little enthusiasm within the company.
This is what enthusiasm looks like:
www.reddit.com/r/SideProject/comments/b3pa3e/we_just_hit_1000_users_and_1500_video_edits_in_a/
I believe SS was once enthusiastic but around the tech and not the number of users.
I know people like bonio could break even at this price but not me and I don't feel ready to throw in the towel yet.
Sadly, the team seem completely useless at product promotion. It's like we're in stealth mode when I google elevate video editor
I guess I'll give it until end Jan and reassess.
Good luck all. |
