On the contrary, there are a handful of peeps not happy with the VRNS, and the rest of us don't have a problem with it.
I watched it and was 100% happy with the message contained within, totally oblivious to, nor distracted by any of the elements of criticism you allude to.
IMO Your focus seems misplaced - next you will be saying you don't like the choice of font used in the RNS text.

Video RNS is actually about the MESSAGE of the RNS , nothing else should distract from that..as you are supposed to be LISTENING to what is being said, and not being distracted in any way, as the RNS obviously is something important, or it would not be released.

Unfortunately Nick, an RNS is a corporate statement release to the stock market and investors, so by name it has to be professional,accurate and accountable.... so..IMO it isnt the place to try and be overly laid back and cool, and certainly not as unprofessional as to not even look at the camera, and yes unfortunately they did choose to make it look like some dull Slough office ...
Keep it simple and do it right....clear, precise message from a professional leader.
The message is the star, not the camera angles or any other unnecesary razzamatazz...
