Thank you Pockerchips2 and gnmartin for your interesting comments. I guess another example of trying to deny the inevitable was the story of King Canute telling the tide to stop coming in. |
Many who oppose automation in one part of their lives actually use it and value it, in another part of their lives ... we can all want to be paid for our labour and not want that to change ...but.. we look elsewhere and see that such labour is not actually necessary any more in that other area .. |

If anyone wants AI to do all their photography enhancements or even photo creations rather than using a tool and doing it themselves.... they are going to end up paying for the resource needed to power the AI
I suspect Adobe realises all of that..as do the others in the AI field...
The up and coming generations will merely be using their minds to be creative and the tools will "create" their ideas ..but that will never end up being "free"
I suspect we will look back in 20 years time and wonder what on earth people were doing wasting their time moving pixels around by hand... and all that other labour intensive fine tuning ...
Adobe ..who will want the newer generations as customers of the future ....will..I suspect ..not care too much about the "older" traditional users who fail to adapt and adjust |

look on the site of the London Stock Exchange ..there is a Report you can look at or download to see IPOs so you might find placings there somewhere too.. |
Try Bloombergs? |
On a completely different note, not Bird-related...
Does anyone know of an information source which lists LSE/AIM companies which have undertaken a placing recently?
Thx |
If Elevate can leverage their cloud offering in a way that guarantees control around security and confidentiality, which I am sure they have patents around, I think the floodgates in the corporate world will open come next year. |
Chart here is horrendous Another tick down next week? |
HCBF to all those who celebrate |

Yes great point on Spark instant publishing very exciting and you need elevate to do it which will drive take up of elevate free version
All part of their well thought out plan.
Stephen’s update on the Player today is brilliant (Should have doubled the share price). |
Expect lot of interest in elevate when it gets auto subtitles.
"Investors just don’t seem to be able to grasp what has been achieved" Was it Charles Thompson of Mentorn who in around 2004/5 described the FORscene Beta as the editing equivalent of putting a man on the moon. Commercially though we firmly planted on terrafirma on the pro side and despite much applause the luvvies seem reluctant to put their handsies in their pocketsies. Hopefully the mass-market can show them the way. Google Docs has over one billion users yet much of big business is still stuck in the dark ages with the likes of installed copies of M$ Office.
Pokerchips/NickB One more thing, which I expect you both know but doesn't harm saying, is when Spark is launched there'll be no need for any export rendering. Furthermore you'll be playing back from the BB encoded data, so you could - in theory - delete the original footage to help keep a lid on storage needs. |
Nick
yes...customise and export an EDL would be something for Enterprise type pay level I suspect for those with bigger teams using different sofware options for their needs. |
I wonder if they will use something like
To Transcribe, translate and subtitle... Adobe and DaVinci Resolve have extensions for it |
Pokerchips
Currently the EDL system is internal
It would be nice for me if you could export that EDL but not sure if they will do that in the short term as that would move elevate into the pro broadcast market so I think they will perhaps hold back on that |
Nick B
Thank you... understood
they should add Elevate to the list of EDL systems that support it...
The virtual machine idea is interesting in that you can create your own machine in the cloud with all your software licences and use whatever you need, when you need it ..and collaberate and review from anywhere with the machine.. ....but...yes..the "cloud based" idea of it is more expensive to operate and less efficient |

Not that I can think of |
SS new Player is very smooth and precise on my iPhone even on Safari, impressive
Only complaint would be in landscape view for me there is a tendency when swiping the video timeline to end up swiping the whole app window |
Pokerchips
Virtualisation requires a dedicated Cloud computer or virtual machine so very difficult to scale and manage plus expensive.
Your other question
Original camera video footage is uploaded to the Cloud elevate.io
This footage is ‘processedR17; into the Blackbird codec
Blackbird video format is used for editing
At the end when you export, it doesn’t convert the Blackbird format but takes the editing meta data (EDL edit decision list) which is the timecode and information required to build the edit from the ORIGINAL video files then this is converted to the finished video file format for you to take away. |
Are there any disadvantages in rendering the way e.io does it? |
SS on X
This version of the Player has: * upgrades to improve responsiveness * cross platform consistent emoji support * prep for a range of coming core technology
As always, no cookies / spyware etc |
Nick
so the Elevate efficiency allows the scaling to use fewer resources than say a cloud based virtual machine system like CREE8 ...
1. The Elevate system uses patented proxies system to do the editing stage ... resulting in faster speed and response and less storage space of the media being used
2. The rendering is done using the finished edit which is still in proxy format ..is that right?
3. The final video creation then uses the BB codec to create from the finished proxy edit a h.264 video to download.
is that right ?
if so...does that mean a user can store a proxy finished edit and render it for download where ever and whenever they want and keep the storage space lower..
I am trying to get at the notion of storing finished edits , rather than completed rendered videos which are obviously much larger in size..
I am assuming/working out..that a virtual machine and storage system isnt using proxies and stores the larger end file using more storage space ?? |
NickB Whatever you had for breakfast today seems to be working!! Excellent overviews. |
Another way of looking at this
EVERYONE can do the Bells and Whistles
Few if anyone else can come close to do the hyper scale web browser video editing platform that the bells and whistles need to sit on. |
Hyper
elevate as it is could be taken by Ian and Sumit to show US big tech executives in a very interesting presentation.
All goes back to my theory on any acquisition. It would be sooner rather than later or not at all.
As I said the Billion Dollar tech part is now on show
No one at say Google is going to say, but it has no Ai
No one at Adobe is going to say that the text generator is basic
It doesn’t matter to them the already have that! |
