One interesting thing about the video is the animation logo branding at the very end.
Made With elevate.io
Are free users going to have that at the end of their videos? One poster (can’t remember who) had something on their video the other day Great free publicity!
Also stays true to not having a burnt in logo like our competitors have, sorry ‘Had’ as they have withdrawn from the market. |
Interesting that if you try and post the video in a thread on here you get the message:
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. |
Hairflick20 - are you sure the phrase in s/w is “eating your own dog food”?
I've heard the phrase "eat your own cooking" but surely dog food is an unnecessary level of commitment?
Either way....if they do go to that level of obsession then they are sure to win in the long run!
I think the RNS video is a great idea. What's the alternative/status quo?
- A dry, boring text RNS just like every other RNS - An RNS with a link to a PR company who conduct an interview (Crux, Proactive, Cavendish, Vox etc). Costing a few £k. Immediate but expensive. - An RNS followed by a few days after one of the above PR firms trying to reach investors via their platform. But unless you're signed up with them you might not see it.
atm there's a disconnect between the RNS and its communication. This direct video RNS completely changes that.
Directly embedded into the RNS. Like a YT vid would be. But actually on BIRD's platform.
Has any other company ever done it before in that way?
Nice links for PIP, playback speed and download as MP4. Going by what we've seen with the player it wouldn't take much to republish it elsewhere.
I think this was a great RNS and it gives a glimpse of the future.
If I was a company CEO wanting to share good news I'd drop one of those into my RNS.
My only criticism - the video could be a bit more jazzy. Use a bit more footage showing Elevate subs taking off from 800 to 40k. One of those animated graphs. Some b-roll in there too. And a few camera angle changes.
You can set up a cheap home studio nowadays with 3 cameras over HDMI and a BlackMagic Atem Mini for example. Cost less than £1k and the end result would be 5x as good.
Still....it's a great start. |
Salmon great analogy |
From Zac Ian McDonough, CEO of Blackbird (BIRD), the technology licensor, developer and seller of market-leading cloud native video editing platform, Blackbird, and developer of the online collaborative video editing and content creation platform, elevate.io, gave a product and user update (via video) on elevate.io.Comment: With the CEO till rocking the former 1980s pop star look via the video in the RNS, it is interesting that elevate looks to have achieved the hockey stick growth that its fans would have been hoping for. |
As we have such skillful video geniuses on-board all of a sudden, perhaps kreature and McSean could collaborate on re-editing the RNS to show off the power of the platform. I’m expecting a full-on epic with burning bridges, a pulsating sound track and an upbeat message from the board’s most optimistic contributors.
Your company needs you lads, get to it. |
Kreature
Interesting perspective on the video
I’d give it a 9 out of 10 from a professional perspective given its intent. |
……how long before YouTube offer the same service for free ? I must say I think the RNS could have given more detail on the users, ie sign up for free users, repeat users etc |
Worth thinking about this
elevate is not a fixed product its organic and constantly evolving for it’s users
Every time you login you automatically get the latest version no software updates on your computer needed.
It only gets better over time and because it’s a platform the company can fine tune it to whatever the market needs. |
Looks like very little interest. I expect bird have burnt a lot of bridges and they'll need more than hype this time around. |
You're just a basher
Haters will always hate |
In fairness, it was a poor vid with jump-cuts, too much head room, poor lighting, dubious sound, and flat in composition. IMO |
Agreed they don't want to go truly hockey-stick on user numbers until they've confirmed stability of interaction with the servers etc. |
Love the RNS video... the idea is super good for passing on good news, but I do wonder how many sheepish CEOs would want to have to show themselves on video having to give bad news
I find the fact that they have users in 120 countries to be the most interesting ....62% of UN nations at this stage ...that is quite something ...and without too much in terms of marketing as of yet....
They must have collected a lot of data on how these users came across Elevate , and you have to wonder if a number of these are within advertising agencies etc putting together storyboard ideas or whatever ...
A seeding reach of 120 countries gives huge optimism for the full potential reach for a product that can meet any language and any culture |
The video RNS is great. In software, and I’m sure other sectors, there’s a term used “eating your own dog food”, ie a company uses its own products or services as part of testing its functionality and readiness.
Some companies I’ve worked at it’s been closer to eating your own dogsh!t at times but this looks sleek, simple and effective. Perhaps 1 or 2 transitions are a little overworked but a very good innovative use of the product. |
800 > 40k in less than 2 months is pretty exponential at 50x |
I'm sure Nick is right.
You don't want everyone using the product when there is more to release, but you need enough to test the integrity of scaling up.
It will be two weeks on Monday since the questionnaire on features went out. If the features are already completed - I would expect them to start launching them soon.
If not - then a new year blitz it is. |
It’s also worth keeping in mind that Sumit did not want too many users too early. I seem to remember them wanting to ease the realise and increase user numbers in a controlled manner? When they are sure of 100% stability with higher users I am sure they will advertise more aggressively. |
Will most companies move to having video in their rns for better corporate communication?
Only disappointment was they didn’t use Spark this time. But nicely edited with elevate! |
While we have had some marketing I’m sure they can easily ramp it up aggressively.
Early growth will likely have had engineering testing for any scale up issues so it has to be managed I would think.
Other than marketing methods we are using these can have publicity such as press reviews and influencers. I would expect fast growth with those Thousands in a day from that. Then there is word of mouth once you have enough seed users.
Just starting |
Correct bonio. We'd perhaps hoped for 50k+, but 40k is still exponential growth over the last 3 months. We could be at 100k by Christmas or early January IMO. 250k by launch in March seems very achievable. 1m by Xmas 2025? I don't think your 10% paid rate is realistic, but 3-4% of 1m users will take us into a significant profit-making position. All we need is for the product itself to "blow the doors off" by March... |
