I'm spreadbetting long from 148p, based on the UBS forecasts last month and sentiment, hoping this retrace is just profit taking and that we'll be on the up again soon......but I must admit it's just a pure gamble not based on a huge amount of research

Among the small caps, there was brisk trade in BETonSports, 1.5p lighter at 135p, as broker Evolution Securities attempted to place 23m shares - around 27% of the company. Dealers believe the majority of the shares belong to the directors. The online bookmaker has been a strong performer in the past three months, gaining almost 30%.

A ridiculous valuation;how do they justify it?

on the 23rd volume traded, 3 mill, on the 22nd, 2.3 mill
the 21st 280k, the 20th 1.6 mill, then before that, a few hundred k average going back for weeks

can't find much press about the UBS rerating, you'd think someone would pounce on a big house upgrading a share by a factor of 3!

Its not a growth stock. Profit improved due to better sports results (ie favourable to bookmakers) Turnover has dropped and they have been on record as having had marketing problems in the US.

There is a dividend declared of 7.4c with another interim and a final to come. Does anyone have a view as to what that might be? Seems that if the two to come amounted to another 7.4c the yield at current exchamge rates is about 6.5%. Also if sorts betting has returned to historical levels and the internet stuff is increasing not to mention the earning enhancing acquisitions is it not feasibly that eps will return in 2006 to the 30c level achieved in 2004? That would put them on a current year pe of 7.6. Isn't this a growth stock? I am clearly missing something.
