plenty of other similar sized approx £100m have same issue

BSS,LNG,WGP EPS of 15-16p for 2006 but trade sub 10 PE

As more of the profits come from non sport book related (erratic) earnings the PE should increase

SBT/PTRY have most of profits from the poker/casino arms PE 17

thanks for that but BSS is over £100m m/c. I agree with you about track record and once the company can demonstrate that it can hit its numbers then we should be off to the races. Given SBT valuation, BSS is probably worth double the current value.

I look forward to making money from this stock.

two reasons

1) not enough trading history
2) funds don't often buy sub £100m stocks

both should be fixed this year

Look how long SBT traded flat in 2004 before lift off

Edit : see BSS market cap is now over £100m

Can anyone tell me why this stock trades so cheaply versus SBT and the other businesses. All the other companies are trading very strongly; which means the results will be good.

US sports betting results since the start of this year have been very favourable for the bookmaker, that is helpful for SBT but will really boost BetonSports (up 24p on Friday) and World Gaming.

BETonSPORTS plc Offers Record Number of Super Bowl Bets
LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 2, 2006--Once again the odds makers at online sports book www.BETonSPORTS.com are setting the standard for Super Bowl betting by offering a record number of bets on the game, including more than 1,200 prop bets that will be on the site before kickoff on Sunday, February 5 - More props than any other sports book.

While BETonSPORTS plc (LSE:BSS) remains the preeminent online sports book operation, the Internet betting industry as a whole is expected to see more than $500 million wagered on Super Bowl XL, making it the biggest betting event ever, and dwarfing the roughly $80 million that will be bet at Nevada-based sports books.

"The Super Bowl is clearly still the biggest sporting event each year in America, and online gambling has rapidly become part of the entertainment activities that consumers engage in for the game. Indeed, online wagering has been gaining in popularity and acceptance among consumers throughout the United States for several years," commented David Carruthers, CEO of BETonSPORTS plc.

The widest offering of proposition bets continue to separate BETonSPORTS.com from other sites with the odds makers at BETonSPORTS this year are expected to have more than 1,200 prop bets available on the Web site for customers. Proposition wagering on the Super Bowl is one of the most popular forms of betting for users, with nearly 75 percent of customers who make a bet on the game, also taking up a prop bet.

The options for BETonSPORTS.com customers are nearly endless, with prop bets ranging from those relating to the game (which team will have the first turnover?); to those dealing with the event (will a cheerleader flash the crowd while doing a cheer?); to the commercials (which one will be voted the best in Monday's USA TODAY?).

To see all the prop bets, and the current odds on each of them, click here:

Among some of the more popular proposition bets during early wagering among BETonSPORTS.com users are:

Which of the following will occur at Super Bowl XL?

A player will moon the crowd 75/1
It will be discovered that Pete Rose bet on the game 50/1
Paris Hilton will French kiss Nicole Richie in a luxury suite 50/1

What color will be the Gatorade dumped on the winning coach?
Yellowish EV
Orange 30/1

Director of Marketing for BETonSPORTS plc, Will Griffiths, said that many prop bets arise out of customer demand.

"It has gotten to the point now that we are putting so many prop bets up, and our customers love them, that many will call up and wonder what the odds would be on a certain scenario," Griffiths said. "We run it by the props department and usually within minutes we have the line up and are taking action on it. The customers also love it when they see a line up on a bet they proposed - we're proud to offer more props than any other sports book."

Hard to say really, but some slightly reassuring news from Leisure&Gamings Pre-Close statement this morning:

"Sports margins improved on last year and, although they were adversely affected
by a run of favourites winning in the NFL in late November and early December,
they returned to normalised levels as the year end approached. "

seems like most operators took a hit but have recovered somewhat.
The NFL is into it's "wildcard" stage now, approaching the playoffs. If a few outsiders/longshots can overcome favourites it would help to blance the books over the season you'd imagine

The trading review no worse than expected , if anything more optimistic. The unexplained demotion of the FD, tacked on the end, must be a worry and no doubt will be a negative on the share price.

Upon completion, Ladbrokes – Hilton's betting arm – will inherit the group's listing and is expected to focus on the growing US online betting market. Ladbrokes is cash-rich and may go on an acquisition spree to further its US growth plans. Sportingbet, which has an established US betting business, is a likely target, as is BetonSports.com, which is based in Costa Rica.

Similarly, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley Securities hold big positions in BetOnSports, another publicly traded firm in London that facilitates sports betting, according to public filings. Morgan Stanley has one of the biggest stakes - worth around $25.6 million - but the company said that the position is held on behalf of one large investor, whose identity it withheld.

.....There is no other leisure business in the world with the same potential for growth and shareholder returns as online gaming," said David Carruthers, the chief executive of BetOnSports, noting that the major casinos each project 20 percent annual sales growth. "We're in our embryonic stages."

BETonSPORTS plc

BETonSPORTS acquires MVPSportsbook, Player Super Book and V-Wager for a maximum
consideration of US$37m and announces Board change

BETonSPORTS plc, a leading US and Asian facing online sportsbook, casino and
poker business, announces the acquisition of several online sportsbooks and
casinos trading principally under the names MVPSportsbook, Player Super Book and
V-Wager.

The business is mainly conducted through the internet and will be integrated
into the existing BETonSPORTS infrastructure in Costa Rica and Antigua. The
acquisition also brings additional executive management and marketing expertise
and enhanced channels for the US market.

The purchase consideration to be paid for the business and the value
attributable to the assets comprises an initial consideration of US$20.2
million, to be satisfied on completion of the acquisition as to US$15.2 million
in cash and the issue of 2,178,744 ordinary shares of 1p each in the capital of
the Company (the "Consideration Shares") as well as deferred consideration of up
to US$16.8 million to be paid in cash depending on the profitability of the
business for each of the 4 years coinciding with the Company's financial years
ending on 4 February 2007 and thereafter. The maximum total purchase
consideration for the business is US$37 million.

The historic profit before tax to 30th September 2005 (unaudited) of the
businesses being acquired was US$3.3 million.

David Carruthers, CEO of BETonSPORTS plc, said "This represents an exceptional
opportunity to bring well respected brand names into our family and to integrate
with our existing businesses seamlessly and using our existing infrastructure.
At the same time, the acquisition extends our cross selling opportunities and
further strengthens our management team with US facing sports betting expertise.
This transaction demonstrates the Company's commitment to consolidation within
the Industry and shows our continued confidence in the growth opportunities of
the US market.

We also confirm that, as widely reported the NFL sports betting margins in the
US have been adversely affected recently as a result of a large number of
favourites winning. However, the Company expects that these margins will follow
the trend of earlier years and return to normal levels during the balance of the
financial year, in which case the results will be in line with expectations.
However if margins do not follow the trend of previous years then the outcome
will be below those expectations. Importantly gross win % margins in all other
sports are ahead of last year and the key business performance indicators of new
customer acquisitions, cash receipts and active customers remain encouraging."

Application has been made for the Consideration Shares to be admitted to trading
on AIM and it is expected that admission will become effective on 4 January
2006.

Following a review of Board Responsibilities, Craig Lapsley will step down from
the Board from today. He will continue to be employed by the Company and will
perform an integral role as Company Secretary. Richard Creed has been appointed
interim Finance Director while the search for a full time Finance Director is
being undertaken. Ends

Bad run of results expose US sportsbooks

Market watchers are bracing themselves for the possibility of profits warnings from US-focused sportsbooks after the NFL regular season threw up an exceptionally bad run of results in favour of the favourites, eGaming Review has learned.
One source who refused to be named suggested the recent bad run could lead to a "rocky couple of months" for UK-listed companies with an exposure to the US sportsbook market.

UK-listed companies with such an exposure include BetonSports, Sportingbet and VIP-parent company Leisure & Gaming (L&G) among others.

The run of results in favour of the favourites has prompted much comment on US sports betting message boards, where one recent set of weekend results was termed "Black Sunday", after 12 out of 16 favourites "covered the spread".

The bad set of results mirrors the events of November 2004 when a bad run of NFL results led to BetonSports issuing a profit warning which prompted a collapse in its share price.

According to the source, such a bad run was described at the time as a "once in a decade event", but the fear is that a new template could be set in motion as regards the fate of the favourites in the NFL.

Such a change could possibly affect the long-term margins of US sportsbook operators, for whom betting on the NFL provides by far the largest slice of their income.
