03/5/2005 19:23 | SamG99 - yes, dismal outlook, I'd better lay in some beer. | bigbertie
02/5/2005 19:51 | bigbertie - your final para - LOL! Very good. And, of course, higher taxes too... | samg99
02/5/2005 19:27 | I'm a lonely ex-Jennings shareholder looking for a home. hello edmundshaw - nice to see a familiar name. Is BHG any good then -it certainly seems to be splashing out on more pubs. I tried a bottle of 80 shillings yesterday but it didn't impress me. Can anyone recommend a good Bellhaven pub in the Berwick to Dunbar area? Also is there a shop at the brewery - it's not clear from the website. I have a few of these already, but I think I will wait for the economic collapse which will follow Labours re-election and pick up some more cheap. All just IMHO of course. | bigbertie
26/4/2005 14:20 | Oh well, 500p didn't last long ;-( P*ss take fall on low volume though... | domtheone
24/4/2005 13:54 | Thanks Hutton | domtheone
21/4/2005 10:35 | LONDON (AFX) - Belhaven Group frothed up 14 pence to 525 as KBC Peel Hunt described the stock as a 'speculative buy' on possible bid interest. Belhaven's market prospects became dull when the Scottish blanket anti-smoking ban was announced and timed for January 2006. However, KBC's Paul Hickman says it is largely a freehold pub operation which also owns a valuable beer brand with distribution rights. Belhaven Best has overtaken Tartan as the number one Scottish ale brand and has been head to head with Scottish & Newcastle in the region. Therefore, Hickman reasons that if the pub properties are of interest to Scottish & Newcastle Enterprises, Belhaven's distribution could be of serious interest to S&N. Doesn't harm to have a bit of speculation :-) | domtheone
21/4/2005 10:00 | Well it wasn't me, lol. I guess it rules out most smaller players, shirley? | domtheone
21/4/2005 09:47 | Another 50k bought this morning (half marked as a sell). So 200k - £1m million - at least bought since the rise to 488p. That would be a fair sized fund ...or... ??? | edmundshaw
20/4/2005 17:12 | And a nice 80K T trade (buy) showiing up at the end as well :-) | domtheone
20/4/2005 12:10 | I see a 50k share cross between brokers, so a big buy is apparently either through (delayed report) or being filled. Someone big likes BHG at the moment :-) | edmundshaw
20/4/2005 10:33 | Incidentally, does anyone have a breakdown of who the major shareholders are. Had a look on their site but cannot find this information. | domtheone
20/4/2005 10:13 | Wow! Nice rise. Not seen any news. Anybody heard anything? As you say Sal, finally breached £5. Let's hope for onwards and upwards. Only regret I have now is that I wished I'd bought a lot more at 440 (not so long ago!). Still.. :-) | domtheone
20/4/2005 09:28 | Well! we have finally breached the £5 mark but I think I will just hang on here until we see if anyone is sniffing around these as I feel that any takeover would have to be pitched around the £6 mark and even if there isnt any corporate action I am happy to hold for organic growth. | salpara111
19/4/2005 10:42 | Amen to that Ed. Only a novice but from what i've seen here it looks to me like someone is happy to accumalate the shares at these levels. Yesterday was just an excuse for the price to be marked down to panic people into seling. Sooner or later me things that the share price will have to move up a bit as the sells dry up (not that theres much selling at the moment anyway). Normal service resumed so far today.. ;-) | domtheone
18/4/2005 17:52 | domtheone I'm with you. Wonder if Wolves and Dudley have finished the acquisition spree yet... ;-0 All right, I couldn't get that lucky, was in Burtonwood and Jennings for that reason, but BHG is a great stock on its own merits alone. I'm expecting to hold this 14 year unbroken growth story to £6 at least. One of the 'sleep easy' shares in my portfolio. And I'm convinced earnings are going to jump this year or next given the number of new sites our friend Ross is taking on... | edmundshaw
18/4/2005 14:56 | I think just a general mark down in most stocks today. BHG getting of lightly compared to many others! Still intend to hold these and hoping for +++!£5 by results. | domtheone
18/4/2005 12:13 | Looks like I am destined to never get my £5. I did cut my holding but have been hanging on to the rest in the hope of breaking the seemingly insurmountable £5 barrier. | salpara111
12/4/2005 10:03 | Somebody wants these! And unless i'm mistaken, we touched all time highs today.. | domtheone
11/4/2005 11:45 | Well, I see that Jennings Bros has had a takeover offer today and although it is smaller than BHG I would not rule out one of the bigger players running the slide-rule over BHG. Having said that, I am happy to hold on here for long term growth. | salpara111
08/4/2005 17:16 | A cracking week all in all (would prefer more volume though) Results 6th June. Plenty of time for that elusive fiver.. | domtheone
06/4/2005 11:41 | Would have been but already did so previously. Should have added but alas.... £5 this time, LOL. | domtheone
04/4/2005 10:24 | Heading south again. Another chance to top up? There's been very little reported selling this morning but there may be some delayed reporting of a larger sell. Maybe mms are trying to offload some stock onto an already weak overall market. Trading reported at the interim stage was good and it's hard to imagine a downturn in the short time since. A year end trading update would steady the market | ed 123
31/3/2005 21:20 | Well I topped up today (should of done it yesterday!) so here's to another crack at that elusive fiver. June will do :-) | domtheone
30/3/2005 09:55 | Would top up, but did that on the last dip so fully overweight here. Perhaps smoking ban and divorcee share 'overhang' are a concern; but in the end it is the business results that will determine the share price (rise). If she wants, I'll take a few thousand off her hands for £4 a piece, though! :-) | edmundshaw |
