Persimmon and Taylor Wimpey up similar amounts so it’s not Barratt specifically.

Higher inflation = higher house prices ?????

There's different types of inflation, we're in cost push inflation with a huge public sector debt and a higher burden on businesses.

Stagflation = Higher costs Higher unemployment

and a moribund housing market.

Barratt Redrow issued its first trading update as a combined Group for the period from 1 July 2024 to 13 October 2024. The acquisition of Redrow plc completed on 21 August 2024, with final Competition and Markets Authority clearance received on 4 October 2024. Combined results were mixed, a reflection of the soft housing market more generally, but there were some encouraging signs. On a combined basis in the period Barratt Redrow net private reservations per average week were 280 (FY24: 237) and net private reservations per active outlet per average week were 0.67 (FY24: 0.49). So at least demand is picking up...

It will take some time for customer confidence to fully recover from the macroeconomic headwinds faced over the past two years, but we are encouraged by the solid trading we have experienced over recent weeks.
