23/8/2013 19:05 | Winning contracts is fine but what is the margin on them? I have worked in the contracting industry all my working life, nearly 30 years, and winning the contract is only first base making a profit is the difficult bit. Sometimes, shock horror, companies under bid for a contact just to get it and hope to recoup the cost on extras and changes but if the client has a good project manager you could be in trouble. SO winning a contract is not everything but it's definitely a start. I hold before anybody asks and long term they are a winner, in my view, short term who knows, may as well bet on a roulette wheel. | pogue

22/8/2013 15:13 | In which case, a takeover is hardly a given. IMHO Balfour would not be an easy lunch for any company within the sector to swallow. Similarly, and more importantly, it would not offer an easy fit - and therefore a profitable one - for any prospective acquirer as its activities are so diverse, both vertically and geographically. I do agree, however, that the share price is lagging many others in the sector, so, for the time being, I'll bow to your greater insights into the sector and investment generally. | grahamburn

19/8/2013 13:26 | 'Cannot be ruled out'? The end of the world through meteor strike cannot be ruled out either. Pretty improbable perhaps, over the next 1 or two months, but still possible, so 'cannot be ruled out'. | nobbyx

19/8/2013 12:01 | Balfour Beatty (BBY)What can be seen as far as the daily chart of Balfour Beatty is the way that in the recent past the volatility has certainly stepped up a gear. This is said on the basis of the latest bear trap rebound from below the 50 day moving average at £2.32. The implication is that while is no end of day close back below this feature/the May price channel floor, one can expect a retest of post-April resistance towards £2.60. Indeed, given the latest RSI buy signal off a May support line, a full recovery of post-March losses at £2.90 cannot be ruled out over the next 1 to 2 months. | nw99
