Azure Dynamics Corporation (TSX – AZD & LSE - ADC) (“Azure Dynamics” or the “Company”;) a leading developer of hybrid electric powertrains for commercial and military vehicles is pleased to announce it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with Smiths Electric Vehicles (“SEV”) part of the Tanfield Group, (LSE – TAN) an AIM listed Company based in the UK. The intent of the MOU is to integrate Azure Dynamics powertrain technology including, inverters, traction motors, and specified auxiliaries for application in the electric vehicles SEV currently builds as well as the next generation design of this vehicle. The first vehicle will be available in May 2005 with production units becoming available later in the year. The next generation vehicle, with significantly higher performance parameters, should be available in 2006.

How big could the hybrid and diesel markets become in the U.S. in five years? Hybrids and diesels could each represent 5% to 10% of new light-vehicle sales in the U.S. by 2010 and 10% to 15% each in 2015. Hybrids will probably achieve higher shares sooner than diesels. Makers of hybrids are already starting to offer the broader mix of hybrid technologies and vehicle capabilities that will be needed to attract more mainstream customers. Makers of diesels still face significant issues in reducing pollution from the engines before they will be permitted in large numbers in most of the U.S., and California and the states that follow California’s lead in pollution restrictions may never permit even the cleanest diesels.

I agree this is my top 5 for 2005 most people have not heard of adc,but when they do it will rocket as long as it does not have the t20-t25 on board.when funds discover this and buy oh boy be set to make lots and lots of money only if you buy and hold.

An electric motor handles normal stop-and-go travel and initial highway acceleration. A gasoline- or diesel-powered internal combustion engine kicks in when the vehicle gets to higher speeds. A sophisticated computer control system decides when to switch from one power plant to the other. At highway speeds the gasoline engine recharges the electric motor's batteries, so there's no need for external electric power...

There is also tax incentives on hybrids, to encourage the change over....

Can see ADC doubling this year as more see the potential in this industry.....
