07/10/2008 10:14 | info is a bit hard to come buy, but found this...............1 some extracts.......... "We always said that we are looking at all options. We will decide when the board meets," said S. Gopalakrishnan, chief executive officer of Infosys. The Infosys board will meet on 10 October to discuss the company's results for the second quarter. An Infosys spokeswoman declined comment on the "hard irrevocables" that Infosys had said the promoters of Axon had pledged along with their 18.1% stake in the company. ................. "If Infosys makes a counter bid, HCL will also increase the bid. They have tied up with loans and have good cash; they have good cushion," said Harit Shah, equity analyst for Mumbai-based Angel Broking Ltd. nice.............. ;-))))))))))))))) | ![]() blockbuy

03/10/2008 16:17 | Yep, suspected as much and the deafening silence/lack of answer would appear to confirm ;) Having said that I struggle to see why a shorter would see this as a worthwhile play in the current circumstances. Screamer | ![]() screamer
03/10/2008 13:43 | Screamer...........a shorter hopeing it drops back............Info Potential bidders waiting on the sidelines to see what the best the Indian companies come up with then trump them maybe??????? ;-)))))))))))) | ![]() blockbuy
02/10/2008 16:45 | will it?....based on what? When Infy made the bid the price went above the bid price and fluctuated in a tight range above it. When HCL indicated that they will bid, the price went above the intended bid price and fluctuated within a tight range above it. If by drift back you mean to around 650 then you might be right but looking at the IndiaTimes article which BB highlighted above I think there's too much waiting in the wings to allow a drift. All in my very humble opinion of course. I'd be interested to hear on what basis you think it will drift back. Screamer | ![]() screamer

02/10/2008 09:09 | Surely the board would have to be convinced of the authenticity of the offer before changing it's recommendation. M | milacs
02/10/2008 08:55 | So...Infy have been dropped in favour of a bid that hasn't actually been made yet. Does this worry any other holders? If for whatever reason HCL fail to get a bid together then where will we be? Remember it's not exactly the best time to be going to the bank to ask for vast wads of cash especially to buy a company whose share price had more than halved in the year up to the initial Infosys bid being made. Personally I think/hope at least one other counterbid will come as it's still a steal at £6.50. Whether Infy come back or another player enters the game remains to be seen. I'll feel a lot better when another bid is actually confirmed though and I wouldn't be surprised if the MMs took the opportunity to have some fun and games with the price in the meantime. Views anyone? Screamer | ![]() screamer
30/9/2008 18:30 | bb It's 60 hours from the time Axon notify Infosys of the details of any competing offer. They have agreed not to alter their recommendation to shareholders prior to that. Seems a bit strange. "Irrevocable" clearly does not mean irrevocable. There's not a lot to be gleaned from the 8.33s and EPTS. Holding instos have been gradually unloading but not at a significant rate. They have sold around 1.9m more shares than they have bought. The just over 3%. The EPT instos (acting for one of the parties) has bought 1.8m and sold 1.4m of them on. ABN AMRO, acting for Infosys did half of the buying (0.9m) which is only 1.5%. No idea what Panmure and Citi, acting for Axon, would have been likely to do with theirs. I haven't totted the shorts but they look like hedging of long positions to me - not that I'm an authority on these things. There are only two 8.33 net buyers. Henderson built a 1.4% position before the counter-offer and have now started to reduce. J P Morgan picked up 650k just before the counter-offer. FWIW I've been doing the same as the instos, gradually reducing into strength but today sold the remainder. A higher offer from Infosys seems likely, although possibly less so in view of the market mayhem. But the main reason is that I wanted to release more cash for bottom fishing. I will continue to keep an eye on this board though, so it's not goodbye. | ![]() wilmdav
30/9/2008 10:58 | anyone got a clue now about who owns what etc?????????? all I can imagine is sub 650 shorts getting burnt right now................w hi Mart...........60 hours from 3pm Friday wasn't it???????/not sure what's significant about that 60 hours, but in one of the annoucements it's mentioned..........9 | ![]() blockbuy
