18/7/2011 20:23 | ASD is just in the foothills of its growth trajectory and I'll be very happy to see Alere back-off. Afinion is an excellent product that is now proven and just needs more tests to expand its market. These tests are on the way and I expect the sales to take-off - the share price will follow. I don't want to lose a big winner for a lousy fiver - the Board are right - no need to talk, no need for white knights. Regards Maddox | maddox
18/7/2011 10:36 | And so it begins, as the ASD share price begins to fall. Get out now, while you still can at a reasonbale level. SELL NOW | markiie5
15/7/2011 10:19 | Wonder if the mms are luring pi in by these early morning rises. Think they might try a few scare tactics to shake a few stop losses. | tratante
15/7/2011 09:44 | If the share price closed above 500p today, that would start to look to have some significance I am starting to think that the Alere approach is not going to start a bidding battle for ASD. Is the reality that its still too small for the big players to go for? If so, I want independence for a while longer | jpjp100
14/7/2011 08:35 | Shares mag has these as a buy. Bit risky I think at this level, downside bigger than the upside imho. but what do I know we wait and see! | tratante
14/7/2011 08:14 | I reckon it will be like a bungee cord without the spring. It'll drop, and overshoot, as these things always do. Then because of the ASD share price history of poor performance, it will stay down for quite a while. But hey, as long as it's an eyes wide open decision to hold. I still say SELL though, as this is going to play out for a little while yet and there's likely to be some smaller drops before the biggy anyway. | markiie5
14/7/2011 08:03 | IMO the 460 indicative bid has set a realistic minimum buy out price now and, even if the share price does fall back below that level if this bid fizzles out, it would be appropriate to consider that 460 would be bid again at some point in the future. Personally I am prepared to risk the downside by not selling out now (if this level does prove to be a peak), to stay invested in ASD for now. Others might time their trades better and sell out at 500 and buy back at 400 this time round, I am OK with that | jpjp100
14/7/2011 07:43 | Any day now, as the old song used to say. ASD is gonna drop BIG TIME. All you have is a megre probe by a pharma to get hold of ASD, and the rumour mill has done the rest. Now you are all in cloud cukoo land, dreaming of bidding wars and 800p buyouts. Dream on. Never happen. The papers and analysts have jumped in with their need to make column inches and see their name in print, and you lot believe it all. Wake up to reality. The bid is a phony war, and when it ends, as it will, the share price will be deep in the deep south. So SELL SELL SELL now before it's too late. Dont say you haven't be warned. :) | markiie5
14/7/2011 07:37 | You should sell them all, not just half. your right about the prospect for a belly up, and when that happens there won't be any dead cats bouncing around for quite a while. SELL SELL SELL while the goings good. | markiie5
13/7/2011 16:02 | Decided to go for an each way bet here. Sold a few to lock in some profits in case it bid goes belly up and the price plumets, holding the rest hoping for more! Balancing fear and greed! | tratante
13/7/2011 11:38 | Well lets hope some other potential suitors think the same way. That could fuel the bidding war we would all love to profit from. | 24jp
13/7/2011 11:36 | .. and why ASD might be determined to stay independent! Interesting times! | tratante
13/7/2011 11:06 | But the new lipid assay is a threat to Alere. Thats why they made the bid. | hotfinance14
13/7/2011 09:41 | depends on the boards resolve not to sell and the bidders determination to offer them a price they can't refuse. Alere may decide they are not that desperate and walk away, there are plenty of other similar companys they could go after. | tratante
13/7/2011 08:29 | I've been away sunning myself, and events have overtaken me. A bid has made this a very pleasant 2011 for me so far, but I should have been even more bullish on this and the sudden rise to 500 caught me completely off guard. I wont buy more at this level as I think we must be pretty close to bid territory, but if indeed any bids fail and the share price does fall back, I will be in with both feet and the kitchen sink. Even if it is not now, I think it's an odds on bet that ASD wont exist this time next year in its present form. It will be taken out. We would all get a much better price if it was later, but lets not be greedy, 5-600 is not bad. | 24jp
12/7/2011 15:58 | ticking up for the US open? a US bidder about to show its hand? mmmmmm... | jpjp100
12/7/2011 12:35 | somebody knows something, rumour mill working overtime, or mms trying to suck in a few buys? | tratante
12/7/2011 10:41 | I am pretty sure that other interested parties would, by now, at least reached out to the ASD board for exploratory / introductory talks. As more time passes, I start to have increasing faith in the board's commitment (and ability) to stay independent for now. | jpjp100
12/7/2011 08:17 | Slater, You are such a genius and we all envy your wisdom. | trinity
12/7/2011 07:58 | Now why would I post a sell when I actually think it is a possible buy pending bid speculation? As regards "lost a shed load" --- au contraire, I've made one on this stock already, by dumping when fools like you lot were holding, and hoping for a miracle, just prior to the massive share price fall off a cliff a couple of years ago that I PREDICTED.. Now I'm just waiting to see what happens. Mind you, markie5 (don't be childish admit it is you), is right about one thing (amazingly), if the bids do not materialise, then the share price might indeed fall back significantly, precisely because investors would not trust the board of ASD to regain the share price momentum anytime soon, and that would present a fairly decent buying opportunity I think. So, no I would not say sell myself, but hold and be ready to buy on any decent fall in the SP, and if you have steel cojones then buy now in hope of a new bid. | slaterlpj
11/7/2011 16:58 | It is slater...the No 1 muppet. | hotfinance14
11/7/2011 16:14 | Probaly Slater because he's lost a shed load | zipstuck
11/7/2011 08:23 | Just to put the record straight, the comments above are not by myself and i suspect the IDIOT!!! who posts here, he knows who he is, assumed this alias to spout his pathetic opinion on this board. Thankfully most who post here know who the IDIOT!!! is and don't give him the attention he so craves. | markie5
11/7/2011 07:36 | SELL SELL SELL | markiie5 |
