                 VIKING Z SEVEN GRANTED NFPA AND NIOSH APPROVAL


Avon Rubber p.l.c. ("Avon") is pleased to announce that, following an extensive
development and approval programme related to their new Self Contained Breathing
Apparatus (SCBA) system, the Viking Z Seven, Avon ISI has received approval
certification following the successful completion of all associated testing. The
Viking Z Seven is Avon's latest advance in SCBAs which began setting the
industry standard for innovation when first introduced in 1999.

The testing, carried out at independent facilities, has resulted in the product
receiving the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)
certification and full approval to the new National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA) 2007 standards, these being requirements in order to sell SCBA systems
within the United States.

Avon ISI, based in Lawrenceville GA, is part of Avon's Protection business,
specialising in the development, production and sales of a range of SCBA for
fire, rescue, law enforcement and military applications.

Commenting on the approval, Terry Stead, Chief Executive, said: "This is the

sell into existing and new markets around the world."
