Where did you see that, Ch1ck? No RNS today. The 7 December RNS was for some meaningless buys under a share plan, so they don't really count imo.

Avon Protection, the Autumn Statement and quality US shares | The Companies and Markets Show

This week’s episode begins with a dive into Avon Protection’s recent figures with our deputy news editor Michael Fahy. To say the numbers were positive might be a stretch, but things could certainly be worse for the respiratory protection equipment specialist. As there have been many changes at the company in recent years and now activist investors are agitating for a sale, how should investors see the business?

If I was to take a punt I would say an American company may be making off the table enquiries. Not official so technically legal but highly sus if you were to deal on this

Anyone who thinks that directors don't have ways of using the inside knowledge is seriously mistaken.

No doubt about it, British companies are undervalued and the Yanks have the cash.

Well something certainly seems to be up but seems unlikely to be takeover interest as the Directors would be precluded from dealing if they had the inkling of a bid.

Just as I post about directors buying, more shares bought by directors.Something is brewing and they are. Picking up the stock at an all time low

Maybe that, as now the largest supplier of protective gear to the US Army, the Yanks may decide to swoop and take them 'in house'?

We can but hope!

Having said all of that why would 3 directors buy significant numbers of shares? I will wait and see a little longer beforePulling the pin

Very interesting that the price was marked as low as 719p yesterday but slowly climbed to be positive bay day end.I could not see any real, positives in the results, debt has doubled and they are unable to make a profit at a time when there products are in demand. The stupid mission statement sums up the management approach to turning the business around, lots of spin and no substance. The city is done with the underperformance and at the moment there is nothing to recommend the company

You can buy the helmets on ebay, not sure about the t-shirts though. Best near term bet would be for the UN to buy 3-4m helmets for the Gazans for health & safety reasons.

It's the gall of management here I find difficult to take. Having achieved the most massive destruction of value by their flawed takeover of the failed armour business, they actually present its winding up as a major plus point! Their lead 'bullet point' is "Excellent Strategic Progress" and the "Launch of new mission, vision and values". Pah! What baloney.

Scanning the RNS only. Is kitchen sinking now complete? Lots of transformation taking place, but no real positives its working yet. Perhaps should have cut the dividend completely? New order announcements are desperately needed. Keep the faith in the new management or not???

You are correct. They look like good recovery ahead here. The past was known. No shocks there.
