GOLD can now hit $1200 before any respite back to try again at $1300

Not the time to be buying I think

Below $1100 maybe ... but not this one

Buywell i think i was irritating PM miner investors on the BB,s far earlier particularly on POG
Polaris was interested why i felt like i did towards AVM and i don't remember you posting around the time of the huge director sell here.
Anyway its not a chest beating contest and if you called it correctly well done.

Anyway i,m now bullish the sector (not all as there are plenty of basket cases)).The time to be a bear was 12-18m ago not now.
We,ll see if your continued bearishness bears fruit.Personally i think you'll stay a bear to long as nothing lasts forever.I doubt there are many left to sell now.
I,m not in here at the moment as its got some real problems and i want to see what happens with one or two things before i buy.
imho

questor had a buy on POG too at about £10 i think. He is as good as TW.
It really pays to do the opposite of some so called experts.

I suspect that AVM may be the first decent sized gold miner to fail.
If the pog can drop that much just on the suggestion that QE is nearing an end then signs are very bearish for what will happen when they actually start to unwind from QE.
I am watching some of the players as there will be winners when the shakeout is over but that is probably a year away.

Yes .... and remember that plonker from the Telegraph's Garry White 'Questor' ...who put a BUY REC on this POS last year ...

''Questor last tipped the shares at 226p in January and they are now an unhelpful 71pc below this level after last week's plunge.''

Where do they dig these chumps up from ?

Garry White should man up and print a retraction

Big problems for AVM are

1. Falling GOLD price V high production costs in Africa (circa $1100 per oz)
2. Poor grades in Africa
3. An untried CEO
4. Political unrest in the region
5. Bad GOLD Hedge arranged
6. Loss of credibility as a mining company within the investment community
7. No BOD buying at the current depressed levels hardly inspires confidence
8.$USD expected to rise in 2014 = GOLD lower next year

and this one

9. Elliot Mgmt who own 27% of AVM shares

Loaned $15m to AVM this will probably be refinanced later this year ...... watch out for the 'Dilution Ahead' warning sign.

Marc Faber Blog: Marc Faber buys Gold mining stock

Part of golds fall is, as we know, due to the strong American Dollar. The American economy hit a wall first and is first in the recovery stakes, however uncertain and fragmented it looks at this early stage.

My understanding is that they are one of the higher cost producers and as such will be one of the first to go to wall.
Have had them on my low level monitor list in case there are signs of life but nothing yet so I will stay away for now.

Nice to see.

Although, the share price is only back to where it was a week ago, so lets not get too excited.

That is some serious price movement. I see no immediate news so takeover rumours could be the cause..

I read on another board that there are take over rumours doing the rounds. I guess I this price it could have some credibility.

I have heard it mentioned that UBS is buying stock for its brokerage business, primarily for stock lending.

They have been buying and selling large chunks of AVM for a few months now.

UBS purchased another 1.9 million shares taking them above 11% ?
At least someone is showing a bit of faith or they know something we don't.
