Once again GACA the best value. |
IPF far too high risk. Absolutely no comparison to the Aviva prefs. |
Why not invest in IPF3 and get over 11% interest |
Aviva next reports on Wednesday 14/08.
I'm guessing a lot of RSAB money is flowing into these now: AV.A 6.25%, GACA 6.57% and GACB 6.3% on the offer. iWeb won't give me a quote on AV.B but judging by the most recent trade (136p) it's 6.16%. |
A move ahead across the piece for the Aviva prefs today.
IMO an offer to buy them all in will happen this year; so last week bought back into GACA.
Easy to do the sums - take a nice and easy 6.7% whilst you wait; and then, should an offer come to buy them all in on a 5% yield - well, an instant 35% profit!
Worth a small allocation surely... |
XD Today
4.375p per share payable on Mon 1st July |
Yields at offer prices:
# AV.A 8.75% @ 135.0p-137.2p = 6.38% # AV.B 8.375% @ 126.5p-128.0p = 6.54% # GACA 8.875% @ 131.3p-131.9p = 6.73% # GACB 7.875% @ 116.0p-116.9p = 6.74%
AV.A & GACA both go XD tomorrow (06/06/24) |
ex-div tomorrow |
Dont forget STAC also which I reckon trumps them all for % dividend at the moment.
STAC - 119.00 (6.93% yield)
They go ex div on 14th March too
Current buy price 1.19
Dividend 8.25% per annum
Yield (ignoring dealing charges) = 6.93% |
Thanks CRT |
Since Skyship not around for a while I will have a go..
Prices based on buy price of 10K Shares and not including tax or dealing costs.
AV.A - 129.48 (6.76% yield) AV.B - 126.80 (6.60% yield) GACA - 126.24 (7.03% yield) GACB - 118.05 (6.67% yield)
As usual GACA appear best bet, but also consider that they don't go ex-div until June.
Cheers CRT |

AV.A & GACA both go XD tomorrow (30/11/23) |
Nov quite often a firmish month as we get nearer ex div early Dec particularly against backdrop of fall in inflation next week or so though that could well be in the price. |
I suspect a good chunk of the boi bond redemption will be recycled here, I certainly am |
dekle - If you are looking for a cast iron short-dated instrument delivering c7%; then look no further. Redemption cost covered more than 14x
NBPS at 120.50p matures at 130.63 on 30/10/24. So in c14months time you receive your payout after a GRY/YTM of 7.14%. Or to look at it another way - an 8.41% capital gain in that time. |
Always worth a look/asking on here... |
Is anyone aware of good quality bonds worth considering. I'm already overweight with AV, thanks, Dekle |
all eggs in one basket ? |
GACA slightly better yield? |
Ok, thanks. |
No, assuming there are no concerns over Aviva's finances and its ability to pay the preference share's dividend, long term rate expectations are far more important with fixed income perpetuals.
For instance, if the market is worrying that the Bank may continue to raise rates to tackle inflation then it makes these look less attractive at the current price and you'd expect to see its price fall. Its current yield on the offer is 7.3% vs a Bank rate of 5.25% and 30yr gilt of 4.89%. |
Shouldn't this be going up a bit in tandem with AV. common stock ? |
The spread, if you're looking at the trades, is currently 117.5/119.8 not 117/122, which is 2.3p. These are looking cheap now compared to AV.B |
