11/6/2015 12:53 | There's a piece in today's Telegraph (can't find an online link) about Elon Musk's plans to build a satellite network. I know it's old news but the thing that always amazes (and concerns!) me is that the tone of these articles suggests people are completely unaware that systems such as Inmarsat and Avanti already exist. The opening line is "If Elon Musk gets his way, internet coverage will soon be beamed down from space". Eh?!!!!!! Is this a failure of PR and is it important? No wonder we're struggling to fill capacity if nobody knows it exists! | ![]() jeffian
09/6/2015 13:44 | Or, if not how much then, what is current percentage uptake of available capacity? | ![]() jadeticl3
09/6/2015 11:16 | I would be happier if we knew how much these contracts are worth. | ![]() sg31
09/6/2015 08:59 | Certainly encouraging to learn of these new contracts.Should certainly start to boost turnover and without high costs should begin to make a difference to the bottom line.Hopefully sales getting ready for take-off! | ![]() mjcferguson
09/6/2015 08:21 | •Multi-year contract to deliver significant deployments across public sector services and government sites •SENTECH reports into the Ministry of Telecommunications and Postal Services. Avanti Communications has signed a new multi-year contract with SENTECH, a state owned enterprise operating in the telecommunications sector in Africa. SENTECH delivers satellite broadband connectivity to South Africa’s public sector at scale, across hundreds of public state institutions and government sites. Kganki Matabane, Chief Operations Officer at SENTECH, said: “We are delighted to unveil our new partnership with Avanti, which enhances SENTECH’s data connectivity technology platform in order to fulfil our public service mandate. This will enable us to provide robust connectivity services which extend our broadband infrastructure to some of the most remote sections of the country. Avanti’s satellite broadband service will allow SENTECH to enhance public value to a vast range of institutions across the country.” David Williams, Avanti CEO commented: “The award of such an important contract for the delivery of vital connectivity to public sector users in South Africa is a strong indication of Avanti’s competitive advantages. Through this valuable partnership with SENTECH, we look forward to making a strong contribution to the efficiency of public services across South Africa.” Service will be supplied using Avanti’s HYLAS 2 Ka-band satellite, which has 100% coverage of South Africa. | ![]() yupawiese2010
21/5/2015 14:15 | Like you, I also fear the latter and regret that I have now lost confidence in AVN. My original £20K holding is now worth £6.5K, so its been a hard bullet to bite. Good luck to those who remain. I hope it can turn itself around. | ![]() 2vdm
21/5/2015 10:22 | Gorbachev, I presume you are a Russian spy ( the subtle change in the spelling did not fool me!), and you are searching for satellites which are selling cheap. I guess Avanti may supply you with a few soon! The company has not met expectations as framed in 2010, and I think not even their greatest supporters would dispute this. However, the question now for me is "is this company moving in the right direction but on a lower trajectory, or is it now dropping back to earth?" I hope the former, I fear the latter, but always there is some indication of better news next week! | ![]() jadeticl3
20/5/2015 20:15 | Hylas 1 launch was 26 Nov 2010 | garymott
20/5/2015 14:13 | Its a question for yourself. Has Avanti been hitting your targets in terms profits & Revenue since Hylas 1 was launched back in 2009, and if not why not? I certainly remember many here were expecting £50m in 2014 Revenues from Hylas 1 alone. I pressume if those same people are still holding here they will have good reason and will be able to give you a knowledgeable reply, based on well researched details not just from quoting waffle from Avantis some of statements. | ![]() gorvachof
19/5/2015 18:18 | Hi guys, Don't shoot the messenger ! I hedl AVN for a couple of years and sold out when it wasn't living up to the hype. It's got in Walsh a heavyweight Chairman who you'd be inclined to think knew his stuff - but he's a spirits man, not a telecomms expert. Leaving aside the 'It's in the Daily Mail, what do you expect ?' kind of reply, what do you think of the points Mears makes ? If he (or The Mail) is wrong, it's usually pretty easy to see. DYOR, anyone ? ATB | ![]() extrader

19/5/2015 15:33 | If it is that clear ( to someone who has a vested interest in bringing this company down) why has it not fallen much further? Do we have competent accountants on the thread who would wish this company to succeed but who now agree with the composer of the above? | ![]() jadeticl3
15/5/2015 17:50 | Oh dear, the latest info doesn't seem to have had any positive effect on the price. John | ![]() 2350220
13/5/2015 21:41 | A partner of Avanti floated in London yesterday. From "THE TIMES" "Market report" today: " ... On AIM, Cleeve Capital completed the £5.2 million reverse takeover of Satellite Solutions Worldwide, a broadband provider targeting badly serviced areas. The company, whose investors include Nick Candy, the property mogul, with 10.9 per cent, has changed its name to SSW and listed on the junior market." 12/5/2015 11:53 | Are there still the doomsayers around? What is that fellow, who was Tom W's mate, (Evil) saying recently. Does he still, in the light of these figures, say that AVN is about to go belly up? | ![]() jadeticl3

30/4/2015 12:57 | The headline says only 4b but the first line if the article says 4.5b same as previous. Yupa can you find one of these articles every few days as repetition of this size may persuade investors that this company may eventually make some money. Thanks | ![]() jadeticl3 |
