29/4/2010 14:14 | 30% up, has to be something from the courts I'd have thought. Perhaps an after hours RNS... Or it could be the MMs with a large sell order moving the price up to encourage buying. Trades almost entirely one way, volume at 440K. | davius
29/4/2010 13:31 | Well it is certainly looking like it has some legs today. | knowing
29/4/2010 12:35 | Hi Knowing..... yep. It was me, but I'm still chary of it. Can't quite see yet what the catalyst would be to give it a good shove up. Also, limited funds at the mo. Unless ACE can do something spectacular!!! Regards. | dyfiman
29/4/2010 11:58 | dyf did you notice JNY was up yesterday? Think it was you who expressed an interest. | knowing
29/4/2010 11:57 | More than 200k traded on plus this morning to date and ACE up around 8%. May be a whisper or two from the courtroom or even a leak re talks with banks etc. But don't hold your breath. Watching closely now. | dyfiman
29/4/2010 11:41 | Have they won? | knowing
27/4/2010 15:57 | I'll second that, Wilba, though the case is taking longer than I first thought. That said, I've some experience of most courtrooms (not in the dock!) and, on contested cases, they can drag. Lawyers love it because its even bigger daily fees all round. Anyway, patience is apparently a virtue!!!! | dyfiman
27/4/2010 15:10 | No news is good news. | wilba
27/4/2010 10:48 | Morning Wilba, have been looking at a calendar and realised that the Autofocus High Court case has been going on for close on a month. Suprising there hasn't been a line of media coverage. Especially within the insurance industry given that it has covered Ace issues regularly over the last couple of years. e.g the Insurance Times. Can't be far from a decision now, unless the judge reserves his decision for more thought and prolongs things even more. Regards. | dyfiman
27/4/2010 07:44 | A bit of speculative buying yesterday. | wilba
17/4/2010 09:44 | Ahh SH*T 4 Brains. | wilba
16/4/2010 19:08 | ffs Pan... give it a rest mate... I have checked not only with a bodyshop who use ACE but also another CHO... Like I say claims level out...some summer months are as busy as some winter months... more cars on the roads in summer less in winter especially over weekends...bodyshops closed for longer periods over Christmas/new year than any other time in the year...longer daylight hours... winter has more hazzards...but then the same can be said in summer with some of the lenghts of skirts i have seen this week...! If anything has a knock down in claims then its insurance intervention activity and with insurers with more time on their hands due to a drop in claim numbers as stated by Avviva to name one then this type of action is more rife than ever... So please let's leave it there unless you have direct market info on precise claim numbers over the course of a year? TN | thenorth
16/4/2010 15:59 | If that's the case then the summer holidays are longer then the christmas ones, is it not? | pan1234
14/4/2010 08:21 | You guessed right Pan I have done my homework and it's a fact claims are more or less the same between winter and summer however if you want facts then i am happy to tell you. Dec and the Easter period are the worst months for claims along with June/July... why you ask....? In the main children's holidays is my reply, don't forget bodyshop employees have time off with their families so bodyshops book less in due to staff levels and that's 100% correct also less cars on the road as most are away and off with the family over these periods. Schools close so less school traffic... need I go on? On the topic of winter, snow means people see it and either don't venture out or drive more carefully, the same with dark, wet mornings. When was the last time we had some nice Black ice? Summer on the other hand attracts the Sunday driver brigade which means more cars on the roads in summer than winter...how many cars would you see parked in Bournemouth in the winter for a picnic on the beach? So as I say claims don't dip they remain the same-ish... Oh and I too have contacts at one of the named CHO's you mention and they say the same...again that's a fact and from the horses mouth. I hope that's plain and simple enough for you! TN | thenorth
12/4/2010 17:22 | What happened in court?? It was ages ago now. | wilba
12/4/2010 17:07 | sunny925 you could say bad winter, warm summer, dry roads. | pan1234
12/4/2010 13:52 | wet greasy roads in the summer pan. At least thats the way its been the last few years | sunny925
12/4/2010 12:36 | TheNorth, I have know doubt in my mind that you have done your homework, but having studied this company for over 4 years and have a very clear view of how it is run i am under no illusion that clams do slow down. If fact you could go as far and ask anyone in help-hire, Bristol and London, or any business in the industry if clam's slow down and they will definitely tell you they do because it it logical, if you think about it wet roads = more accidents, dry roads more friction = less accidents. You really don't have to complicate matters over analyzing thing to much. But then again this is only my opinion. I will stick with my lot. Sometimes in life we really have to just look at things in a plain and simple manner. Don't you think? | pan1234
12/4/2010 11:15 | Pan, claims do not reduce in the summer months, in fact the stay roughly the same through the year...and thats 100% correct! I thought the same as you and after a fair bit of digging i was proved wrong...that should help you with your sums!!! regards TN | thenorth
12/4/2010 11:11 | Sorry i should have made myself clear, i was reading dyfiman post about how ACE sure fire money maker (NOT HIS WORDS BTW). So that got me thinking and searching. With in 5 mins i had discovered a whole host of views, so i guess it was a reply to that post. That aside, looking toward the future if we do have a double dip in the markets and you talk about that 50m convertible loan note coming into play, plus the summer months coming up, you do the maths, does it not? Like i said i wish them the best and hopeful future but if you read the above and are wanting a long shot then maybe this is it, me myself i like to air on the side of caution. Have Fun. | pan1234
11/4/2010 17:29 | Lol, no, just the local race. Went well enough, 8 minutes off my pb, which I was pleased with. Regarding ACE, personally I think things look a bit ropey. I offloaded most ofmy holding on the way down, so that my exposure now is fairly small and if Steve can't turn it around and it goes under (and I do think that's a possibility, when the £50m convertible loan notes become due if not before) it wouldn't be a disaster for me. The reward potential is also fairly high though, with the shares being so low. | davius
11/4/2010 14:22 | Good luck with run mate or did you mean the snickers sort of marathon. Regards. | wilba
11/4/2010 09:08 | All stuff from a month or two ago. It's worth repeating now because? Right, off to do the marathon... | davius |
