03/12/2008 12:31 | The MMs are certainly making the most of the current economic situation to froghten investors. | spaceparallax
03/12/2008 12:03 | Seymour have them as a buy today. I hope Tom fills his boots at this price. Pity no deal in Oz yet. Amazing how little volume it takes to hit the price! | loafofbread
03/12/2008 09:32 | Results seem solid enough, although I suspect that a few investors will be unhappy with the divi reduction (albeit for good reasons). | spaceparallax
02/12/2008 22:50 | Yeah not really. It had a negative undertone, but highlighted that the government was effectively greenlighting opencast projects. It did mention that Scotland had an established history of opencast, or something similar. Given recent price action tomorrow's anouncement could be interesting. | sammu
02/12/2008 15:11 | Watched the programme and to be honest it seemed to be more focussed upon political point-scoring and nimbyism. Don't really see it as significant to our near term future. | spaceparallax
02/12/2008 13:13 | Thanks Sam, Will take a look to see if it sheds light on today's sharp drop. | spaceparallax
01/12/2008 18:54 | Panorama on tonight at 8.30 about opencast coal in UK, could be of interest and worth i-player if reading this later. | sammu
01/12/2008 13:52 | SP looking weak again - presumably some holders getting cold feet ahead of Wednesday's results. | spaceparallax
20/11/2008 16:44 | Indeed, the price is well down, although it's hard to see these levels being maintained for long. I suppose like many shares it's investors getting cold feet when faced with such a drastic price range within such a short period. | spaceparallax
20/11/2008 14:37 | More likely for the fall in the coal price.... Stowe Coal Index now 1,540.33 .... 14:35 hrs 19/11/08 ........... 1,725.18 .... 09:03 hrs 15/11/08 ........... 2,008.73 .... 19:16 hrs 20/10/08 ........... 2,575.09 .... 08:02 hrs 22/09/08 ........... 4,852.26 .... 13:27 hrs ..... | piedro
20/11/2008 11:40 | The drastic slippage in share price over the last few days is very worrying - it smacks of a news leak ahead of results, upon which a few have reacted. | spaceparallax
19/11/2008 09:04 | Sizeable dip this morning - surprising given the recent stability. | spaceparallax
13/11/2008 10:16 | Let's hope that the results 3 Dec provide a necessary boost - otherwise, we could go sub 100p. | spaceparallax
07/10/2008 12:39 | I m picking up some bargains today for my ISA - shame this one is on aim | notanewmember
03/10/2008 09:08 | TS looks solid enough. A347, This type of operation will always required substantial infrastructure and hence require significant borrowings; consequently, repayments will heavily eat into profits in the earlier stages. The longer a mine can remain operational, the infra costs per tonne should presumably by and large fall - I suppose we've just got to be patient in the expectation of better and sustained profits in future. In the current economic climate, it's hard to see the share price getting above £2, but hopefully we may get back there in the longer term. At least we seem to have a relatively solid business, where there'll be a market for years to come. | spaceparallax
26/8/2008 10:44 | Have been a holder of these since Nov 04. What is the opinion of other contributors as to their borrowings which seem to be quite high in relation to profits, which I suppose is to be expected when setting up this kind of operation. The price of coal is a great plus and reserves are increasing but they seem to fail on the profits. The 11.6p Div is very handy but the share price needs to get above 2 quid. It should get a boost from todays news but not much action so far. | a3477681
20/8/2008 15:58 | Cheers for the link. Nice to see a bit of life return to ATH. Decent buy today. Looking forward to those OZ contracts being confirmed in Sept. | loafofbread

30/7/2008 08:22 | It's simply catching up on what's been happening to the rest of the Mkt. | spaceparallax
30/7/2008 07:52 | what is happening to ATH - the price on 21.07.08 was 186 bid today 160p bid are the shares being shorted as a result of the weaker oil price or is there some other reason for the fall | sandybubbles
16/7/2008 06:53 | Price rises kicking in at UKCoal at last. UK Coal H1 revenues inline, higher realised sales price LONDON (Thomson Financial) - UK Coal said its revenues for the first half of the year are in line with expectations, with a higher realised coal sales price over the period offsetting slightly lower production. The company secured 1.79 pounds per gigajoule (GJ), up from 1.52 pounds last time, with production down to 3.7 million tonnes from 3.8 million, the result of delays in further development at its Kellingley mine. The higher price for coal is expected to continue into the second half, the company said in its trading statement, with an expected selling price of between 1.95 pounds and 2 pounds per GJ on production of 5 million tonnes. As a result of higher energy prices, UK Coal is considering re-opening its Harworth mine to assess the "substantial" remaining coal reserves there. A geological study is currently underway. Energy costs are up for the year, the company said, which will raise operating costs for the full year. It said full-year results are expected to be in line with expectations. | loafofbread
15/7/2008 16:40 | Looks like Artemis are offloading again? Strange we have not seen an RNS to tell us who the buyer is! | loafofbread
08/7/2008 07:03 | Nice one Tom. Nice to see he had to pay over the odds. | loafofbread
04/7/2008 08:18 | Sadly, shares across the board are being heavily manipulated by the MMs - in fact, ATH has got away very lightly. | spaceparallax |
