10/7/2007 14:21 | Looks like it's just you and me Nig - I got in early 180s shortly before results. | spaceparallax
09/7/2007 19:45 | I have taken aposition in these on the back of a tip from GCI last week. Is there anybody else here? | nig295
14/6/2007 08:21 | Solid looking results. | spaceparallax
16/4/2007 15:46 | SP reacting to the Director SELL. | spaceparallax
20/3/2007 12:40 | Looking healthier. | spaceparallax
13/3/2007 11:33 | An encouraging RNS - should help the share price It would also be nice to hear some news from France. | spaceparallax
06/2/2007 16:38 | Does anyone understand what's going on with the SP? One week up, the next down - today, I'm seeing only Buys declared and yet the share price falls. Presumably, there is either a large Sell order being filled or the MMs are playing games. All views welcome. | spaceparallax
22/1/2007 13:11 | Must say, after having held firm at mid 190s, I had thought that we'd weathered the Director Sell. Surprised to see the retracement. | spaceparallax
05/1/2007 15:32 | Now that's what I call a badly timed Director Sell, just when it appeared that confidence had been restored! | spaceparallax
03/1/2007 12:33 | Wow - some recovery. | spaceparallax
03/1/2007 09:48 | Looking better - presumably, post divi Sellers have dried up. | spaceparallax
29/12/2006 12:37 | The current drift looks likely to go to the 176p double-bottom - hopefully, it'll find support there, otherwise the SP's in big trouble. Ironically, I can see no resons why. | spaceparallax
20/12/2006 12:32 | Very strange behaviour over the last couple of weeks - I see much PI Buying and yet the share price continues to fall, except for the two recent up blips - I can only presume that there's significant offloading taking place and yet to fully work its way through. | spaceparallax
14/12/2006 15:48 | I'm watching this pretty closely and seem to see mainly Buys. However, the share price continues to fall - presumably, this means that we have a very substantial T SEll being filled and will be notified subsequently of a reduction in holding by some major. | spaceparallax
06/12/2006 14:04 | the share price looks to be in a downtrend and there has been no positive reation from today's results so I too am staying out until the share price has fallen. | this_is_me
06/12/2006 09:27 | Results appear generally good, although the EPS growth is only 75% of that forecast. Had been considering entering, but will continue to wait and see how the Market reacts. | spaceparallax
15/8/2006 08:20 | HERE IS A COMPANY WITH INTERESTS IN OPEN CAST COAL MINING MAINLY IN SCOTLAND. THE DIVIDEND WAS SUBSTATIALLY INCREASED LAST YEAR TO GIVE A YIELD OF OVER 5% DIVIDEND COVER ONCE. COMPANY SEEMS TO GET ONE WELL WITH SCOTTISH COUNCILS ALTHOUGH THE LAST PLANNING REJECTION WAS A LET DOWN - COMPANY IS GOING TO APEAL. QUESTION - DOES COAL HAVE A FUTURE ? (IF SO ATH IS ONE OF THE LARGER U K OPERATERS) | eljim
01/9/2005 15:01 | Thanks for your thoughts DJ, and for the article. The shares have joined in the fun today, breaking new ground. This company seems to be even less well known than BISI, - AIM listed and a relative newcomer, being the reasons I suppose. I noticed that there was a question over the life of their reserves, not totally dissimilar to BISI, although BISI seem to have rectified this more recently. I'll see what I can dig up, particularly regarding France, which I know v. little about. Strangely high dividend forecast on this, maybe to help market the company to EIS/VCT peeps? Thanks Sam | sammu
01/9/2005 14:45 | Sammu: it's not much good asking my opinion, because mining stocks are not my thing really. I bought a few of these at 190p on 8 July because coal seems to be going up, and that's about it. :-) Here's what the Investor's Chronicle had to say about them on 17 June (at 181p): "ATH RESOURCES (ATH) Maiden interim results from open-cast coal miner ATH, which floated on Aim a year ago at 136p, were better than expected. And this was despite bad weather over the winter which hit production at Carlisle and in southern Scotland. ATH has now gained consent to extend the Garleffan site, and has applied to extend Skares Road and open up Laigh Glenmuir - with further applications in the pipeline. Drilling is also getting under way at two mines in France. Add to this the acquisition of two new mines - Grievehill and Glenmuckloch in Ayrshire - funded by a £17m rights issue in May, and reserves have been raised from 2.4m last September to 6.6m tonnes, good for the next five years. Broker Seymour Pierce forecasts full-year, underlying pre-tax profits of £6.5m, adjusted EPS of 9.7p (from 4p in 2004) and a dividend of 10.9p. For 2006, the broker expects profits of £7.5m, EPS of 12.6p and a 12p dividend." For what it's worth, I think they are probably good value if the coal price holds up, and they do pay a hefty dividend. There is a question over the life of their reserves (5-7 years), and whether they can get planning permission to extend the life by mining in new or adjacent areas. | diogenesj
14/8/2005 19:38 | Not much interest in this stock. New high reached on friday afternoon, up 6.6%. I noticed a fund manager had a decent holding in this share a few weeks ago and so had a look. Can't remember which one, but it may have been artemis The deals announced a while ago seem to have usefully extended the mine life in Scotland. I don't know much about France yet. Sam | sammu
16/2/2005 11:33 | Heavy retail buying following T1ps.com recommendation. | reynard46
27/12/2004 19:14 | Hello all, I own some of these shares and the 2005 and 2006 forecasts of eps are pretty spectacular. The dividend forecasts are also pretty good for those years...close to 10%. Here comes the 'BUT'. BUT, it is a small outfit with essentially one big hole in the ground out of which it digs coal. Once that is used up in 5 years or so there is nothing left. So long term value also depends on new planning permissions and development of new sites over the next few years. There are sites being developed in Scotland and France but they are at early stages and it is hard to say how much they will yield and the coal from them will likely be sold at prices prevailing in 2007 etc. The coal price has gone from record lows to record highs in the last 2 years so it is hard to say what prices may be in 2007 and on. A good guess would be around the long term average which is somewhat lower than todays price. As a holder I clearly think there is growth and value to be had in the next few years and a real chance the shares will go up ....a doubling is not unreasonable. But it all depends on new sites and coal price...I would look at these factors more than I look at this years eps. | brian spaceship2
27/12/2004 18:30 | Charles - the IC shows Broker forecasting "normalised EPS" of 7.2p for 2004 and 27.7p for 2005. But actual EPS 2004 only .44 as you say above based on "pro forma figures". Cant understand the terms used !! Delwer - coal is doing well world wide with China the growth area pushing up demand and perhaps prices in the years ahead. IF big IF the projected 27.7p EPS is right, share price will look cheap over two years, but I'm nervous of these definitions ! | puku
16/12/2004 15:04 | Anyone know much about this share? Picked up the name from the UKC BB, some speculation there about coal prices rising and coal being the fuel of the future. | delwer
13/12/2004 11:39 | ShareScope picked up an (the?) analyst forecast of 27.7p projected EPS The lastest results (last week) were 0.44p EPS This generates an exteme PEG | charles henderson |
