Large new Primark opening in the Trafford Centre.......

I've just added a few more as thankfully (sugar apart) the company have reported strong improvements across the whole group.

I will cling on to them all the way back up to 2900p :-)

Morning all.

Just about there now. March gap also filled, so the bots might start to reverse. Oversold on the daily, but unfortunately still could be some way down on the weekly charts. I would have thought there'd be some support down here. Hope so, 'cos I'm taking a bit of a bath. Tempted to add, but I'm a still unsure about the effect of new margin rates.

Trade well and prosper.......

Looking for that March low. Got in too early here, but happy to hold.
That upside gap will fill - eventually.

Is the problem here its P/E ratio of >20x earnings?
Other retailers are at 5x earnings (DEB)
MKS at 10x earnings

Associated British Foods not that bad, says The Share Centre

Shares in Associated British Foods (ABF) have suffered falls in the past six months but The Share Centre says its latest interim results are not as discouraging as investors appear to think.

Analyst Ian Forrest retained his ‘hold’ recommendation on the stock as the ‘longer-term growth prospects for Primark, its budget fashion chain, remain sound and there is increasing global demand for food’.

The company reported a fall in sugar profits, which Forrest said ‘is a concern’ but is offset by a profit rise of 4% at Primark and ABF is ‘confident that this will accelerate thanks to the growth of its selling space and the strength of sterling in recent months’.

‘Given that the shares have fallen sharply over the past six months, these results gave the market some confidence,’ he said.

Good chart support at 2400p anyway ;-)

edit: Can't believe they still haven't got that Primark outlet open Toulouse. When I was there last november it was almost good to go. Has to be new/ revised planning issues or they've uncovered some archaeological artifacts ;-)

Soc Gen is with you tl :-)

"...Shares in Associated British Foods were sliding after it said profits were improving at its Primark clothing retail arm but its sugar business was being hit by lower prices. Analysts at Societe Generale said: "With full year guidance maintained, we expect little change to FY18 consensus EPS forecasts, although FY19 may come down to reflect the ongoing difficulties in Sugar. But on balance we expect the share price to react well to the changing profits mix and better news on Primark."

Yet another over reaction to positive news. I am pleased that profits from other divisions are continuing to rise!Consequently, AB Foods said its outlook is unchanged with progress expected in adjusted operating profit and adjusted earnings per share.
