wow isn't it amazing how they can turn so many negatives into an overweight recommendation
falling European sugar prices to drag on Sugar profits
investments at Primark to weigh on retail margins
continuing strong competition to impact Grocery
Add to this lacklustre picture the strengthening of the pound

Telegraph:

Primark-owner Associated British Foods lifted 1.8pc higher ot £31.03 by Barclays, which has started coverage with an "overweight" rating

The broker says:

A painful transition year, but laying strong foundations: ABF does not look set for a great FY15. We expect falling European sugar prices to drag on Sugar profits, investments at Primark to weigh on retail margins, and continuing strong competition to impact Grocery. Add to this lacklustre picture the strengthening of the pound, and it is no wonder the share has underperformed the staples year-to-date. However, we believe that ABF may finally enjoy a perfect alignment of the stars as the year unfolds. Our conviction is based on a detailed analysis of each of its divisions, which allows us to identify the various factors of profit growth, whether exogenous (Sugar), or endogenous (mix-driven in Grocery, Agriculture, or related to store expansion in Retail).

LONDON (Alliance News) - FTSE 250-listed real estate investor Redefine International PLC Friday said it has signed a deal with Associated British Foods PLC'sPrimark fashion retail chain to take space at the City Arcaden Shopping Centre in Ingolstadt in Germany.

Primark will take a 5,200 square metre space in the centre, which Refine bought in August last year.

"We are very pleased to have agreed this landmark transaction with Primark. The arrival of Europe's most sought after discount fashion brand in Ingolstadt is exceptionally good news for the City, and marks Redefine International's second Primark store in Germany, following its highly successful outlet in our Berlin shopping centre, the Schloss-Strassen Centre," said Redefine Chief Executive Officer Mike Watters.

'Abercrombie's problems aren't all about the logo'

......additional trouble is brewing for the teen sector, as the U.S. entry of British value retailer Primark looms. The fast-fashion category has already caused a dent in prices and margins among the teen set, which should only get worse after Primark opens this year, Buss said. Whereas prices are already low at Forever 21, H&M and Uniqlo, they're even lower at Primark.

A recent study by Credit Suisse compared the cost of nine "core product" categories, including T-shirts and skinny jeans, across fast-fashion stores in the U.K. The total basket price at Primark came in at 99 pounds, significantly lower than the average of 212 pounds.

"Primark's entrance to the USA in '15 could be a key event in the growth of 'deep value fashion' and will prove disruptive for the apparel sector as a whole," Buss wrote in a note to investors.

"The retailer's extreme low prices on fashion basics will help reset consumer expectations for pricing across apparel retail, eroding pricing premiums and taking profits from mid-value specialty retailers, department stores and discounters."

DANBURY -- Struggling retailer Sears, which has closed hundreds of stores in recent months throughout the country, has announced it will lease out half of its store at the Danbury Fair mall to Primark, an Irish clothing retailer looking to enter the United States.

Sears, according to a statement released by its parent company, has agreed to lease approximately 70,000 square feet on the upper level of the two-story store to Primark. Sears will continue to have both a retail presence as well as operate its auto center from the first floor of the facility.
