28/10/2017 23:43 | Perhaps a 2019 present to myself for investing in ARS at 0.98p... | mattjwhity

28/10/2017 12:41 | As far as I know, divis in an ISA are *not* tax-free, you still have to pay the confusingly-named 'withholding tax'? | cyberbub
28/10/2017 10:53 | *only long positions can be taken | the manini
28/10/2017 10:37 | You can't go short ARS on IG on long positions can be taken.I hold all my shares in an ISA so gains are also tax free. An advantage to holding shares will come when they start paying a dividend which will also be tax free in the ISA. I do take out spread bets to take advantage of short term pullback rather than selling shares and trying to buy back cheaper which can backfire if news gets released. | the manini
28/10/2017 09:19 | Obviously there are a couple of major advantages ie the ability to short the stock and the freedom from any tax on gains. You don't even have to declare anything to the Revenue. No major disadvantage to trading in spreads apart from slightly higher costs and a certain amount of added risk from the possibility of a failing counterparties (the bet itself involves intermediary companies who set up the instruments). Also, being a geared instrument it is easy to trade in amounts larger than if you were buying the actual stock, so more care needed. I assume that there is some kind of charge for holding bets long term, so the charges might mount up. Really useful for short-term short positions. | horneblower
28/10/2017 08:30 | Is thee a disadvantage. My holding is all in sb. | ronconomics
27/10/2017 23:07 | trickyfrogman - IG account up and running. Like you, just want a bit of short term fun without having to sell shares. Would absolutely love it to pull back a fraction but given pending newsflow I wouldn't be surprised if that never happens. Have a good weekend all. | amaretto

27/10/2017 16:52 | Well we closed the week out higher than we started despite the sales and remain over 7p which shows real strength. Cannot wait to see the further updates on BKM and BKZ next week and let’s remember it could be the big “B” month! Good weekends all. | adorling
27/10/2017 16:42 | Thanks, cyber. Technically, it's not a rollover. It was two bed and ISA's. | horneblower
27/10/2017 16:00 | The second part of your rollover has just gone through horneblower | cyberbub
27/10/2017 15:25 | Entirely agree. | horneblower
27/10/2017 15:09 | Copper pulling back/ taking a breather.Looking at the chart we might see some consolidation n but difficult to call if newsflow continues and Beutong lands. Don't be surprised or concerned to see 6.5p next week; I'll be buying more if it drops back. | highly geared
27/10/2017 15:04 | Amaretto I have some ARS spreadbet longs with IG and Spreadex just to complement my core holding in an ISA and let me make a bit short term without having to sell any shares. :-) | trickyfrogman
27/10/2017 14:57 | I am just putting through two bed and ISA's at £20k each so, don't let the two sales of 290,779 shares at 6.89p worry you. It looks like they have delayed the purchases for some reason but put the sales through immediately. | horneblower
27/10/2017 09:27 | fair bit of buying going on this morning | mr roper
27/10/2017 08:35 | Everyone's turning to Copper! | mattjwhity

26/10/2017 19:57 | Hargreaves sb thro ig allow long on ars | acer9
26/10/2017 19:44 | Thanks H. I tend to stick to shares having been burnt in the past with SBs; they really should be far more restricted than they currently are as virtually all investors lose out. However, I have a some funds for a small punt but can't find any of the usual sources supporting ARS. Clearly some do as you constantly see rollovers on the registered trades so they must exist. City Index don't, neither CMC or Intertrader. I'll try IG but if anyone knows of anyone else I'd be interested to hear about it. | amaretto
26/10/2017 19:02 | The fact is there's a long way to go yet and the share price will not be going in a straight line from here to 50p! Be prepared for a tantalising, switchback ride with some wild swings down and up. 50p is my 18 month target but 5.5p is not impossible on the way. | horneblower
26/10/2017 18:53 | Amaretto, Sorry, can't answer as I don't use spreads. I believe IG are the most likely to offer that service, or try City Index. | horneblower |
