06/4/2014 08:07 | Morning all Even more speculation at HoF, as Mike Ashley buys HoF stake from Tom Hunter, in a possible move to stop the chinese group purchasing the company. This must put the spotlight onto ALY also as the HoF ceo wants to take Hof to china to exploit the heritage brand. Well everyone knows Laura Ashley so the same argument can be made, unless Mr Tom Hunter is circling Laura Ashley. I continue to buy, as imho this will lead to retained massive dividends to keep predator at bay or a buyout. Although the US mkt moved down on Friday, I still expect aly to open higher at 26.25p. dyor regards active | ![]() srpactive
04/4/2014 15:35 | Breakout, looking very strong ( mm's dropped it at the close ). Maybe they feel they could be selling a few kitchens this weekend. dyor regards active | ![]() srpactive
27/3/2014 14:36 | More interesting parts ==================== These product ranges have also helped to differentiate our Interior Design Service from the rest of the high street. This service has grown by 19% over the year. Licenses were awarded during 2013 for new categories, which included branded kitchens and beauty products. ==================== dyor | ![]() srpactive
27/3/2014 09:57 | Agree, I have been buying recently as I have mentioned here, for a while especially at 23- 24p, even with just the two 1p dividends it is producing a 8+% return. Which is excellent in itself. dyor regards active | ![]() srpactive
27/3/2014 09:35 | Even if you remove the anniversary and special divi, they still paid out 2p. If they return to just paying out 2p in the future, I will be happy. | ![]() orchestralis
27/3/2014 08:39 | Morning all, excellent results as far as I am concerned, plenty of profit, cash in bank and more importantly the margin increase, the cost decrease, the closure of poor performing stores and the outlook. ==================== Current Trading and Outlook In the first two months of the current financial year, we have achieved Like-for-Like sales growth of 2.0%. This is an encouraging start to the year and we believe that this progress can be maintained. ==================== I continue to buy upto 30p. dyor regards active | ![]() srpactive

18/3/2014 08:43 | Morning Bobby.ifa Well not in my honest opinion, the company is still profitable, with cash. Everyone knows the home furnishings and furniture is very nice and good but the fashion is lousy. This could so easily be turned around by bringing in a youngish well regarded fashion designer to turn the fashion around. And we are still awaiting the chinese franchise news. I have used this opportunity to increase my holding for what it is worth. dyor regards active | ![]() srpactive
14/3/2014 15:32 | This has taken a mauling over the past month. Any reason for it? | ![]() bobby.ifa

14/3/2014 12:52 | I am in no position to offer advice or help. I just buy high income and recovery situations. I have been buying aly for a while and in the past twelve months buying everytime they get near 23/24p to buy, which I continue to do. The furniture is doing well the fashion is poor at best but that is factored in, they are trying to arrange chinese franchised stores and we are waiting for it to happen. I would have thought they could easily get a young talented buyer to turn the fashion around. They have cash and are profitable with no debt, so it might take a while to move back but I for one am willing to accumulate and be patient. That is what I am doing, what everyone else chooses to do is up to them. I cannot offer advice and would never think of doing so. dyor regards active | ![]() srpactive
14/3/2014 11:52 | srpactive You seem to know more than most about ALY, any idea what is going on? Would like to steam in and get another bundle but caution has taken over. Can you be of any help. Thanks | ![]() billy5
10/3/2014 13:12 | Drop it earlier to cane the PI's before work, then drop it again at lunchtime. You have to laugh at these mm's. regards active | ![]() srpactive
07/3/2014 21:06 | Yes read it earlier, used the silly article to buy. I remember back in the day the ic giving ezj a bashing and a sell rating at 126p. I contacted them and said I was buying and they said we shall see who is right, well now still holding at 1700p. dyor regards active | ![]() srpactive
07/3/2014 20:26 | Have a glance at today's Investors Chronicle - gave ALY a right bashing - should be on the rise soon! :) | ![]() killieboy
07/3/2014 15:38 | Bought more, nice 12% dividend. dyor regards active | ![]() srpactive
18/2/2014 19:30 | Nothing exciting over the last few months but bearing everything in mind the share price has held up pretty well it seems to me. I would not be surprised to see it move northwards again and am thinking that it maybe a good time to place a few in the pot. | lady liz

07/2/2014 16:19 | Thanks PM. Got them more than 10 years ago when they were tipped for great things - went in opposite direction! Getting a bit more involved in the market now and there are some good performing shares around at the moment, but take your point about the possiblity of a small uplift in the near future. Cheers. | ![]() grahamnash
07/2/2014 08:04 | They pay a good dividend (7.8% according to ADVFN), so if you've got the shares wrapped in a tax free ISA then that's a very good return, or even in a SIPP. There is also potential upside on the back of the supposed housing recovery as Lady Liz above commented on above. But if you are looking for a shooting star of a share this is not the one at the moment (by the way, you must have had the share a long time!). If you are looking at getting rid soon, this share has traded between 24 and 28 pence in the last several months so it might be worth waiting for it to head a bit further north before you exit. I would also add that unless you have another share in mind to buy, I would keep them until you do find one. | pm2000
06/2/2014 21:20 | Hi there. Had LA shares sitting in bottom drawer for a few years now. Sitting on 50% loss :( and thinking of getting rid of them. Anyone got a reason why they might be worth hanging on to for a bit longer? Cheers. | ![]() grahamnash
