15/2/2002 17:27 | Kayak, My sincere apologies - looks like it was marrick who was topping up at 3.9p...... Your humble servant Pin | pinsticker
15/2/2002 12:03 | Martini, Only when times are really really hard..... | pinsticker
15/2/2002 09:14 | Thing is, Akaei wouldn't have needed to raise funds at all if hoodless had made any sort of attempt to sell shares pre IPO on behalf of ONL as opposed to coining it in with huge volume of their cheaply awarded shares immediately following floatation. Surely marketing the shares was supposed to be part of their job? | stewjames
15/2/2002 09:05 | fft I don't know whether GEM has been approached but given the conditions in their agreements, it would have been difficult for Akaei all the same. What I mean is this. GEM's agreements invariably require GEM to subscribe for an amount of shares equivalent to an average of the shares traded in the previous fortnight times say 3.5. Given that Akaei is highly illiquid and frequently, there are no trades at all, such a system would be highly expensive to administer since the amounts actually raised would still be tiny. Looking at other game companies such as Eidos, they too had to issue shares at very high discounts. The difference is that Eidos offered the discounted shares to existing shareholders. But given Akaei's shareholders' current position, this is also impracticable. There is absolutely no other way how a tiny company such as Akaei could have raised that amount of money in the current market conditions. As regards the prospects, I am looking forward to see how the football game performs given this innovative way of marketing. If it succeeds, the rewards could be high. Cheers. marrick | marrick
15/2/2002 08:10 | Welcome back marrick, agree with your sentiments about how a small company raises money, but it is a highly cynical method of raising funds. It could easily be argued that given the company could not stand on its feet properly, it shouldnt have been floated last June. I do wonder whether GEM was approached, but turned it down, in which case some of the ONL GEM funding may be diverted ? The games are potentially good news, and do help to give a forward schedule of sorts. I think the company is Polish though. A trading statement would help clarify just how well the sales are going, but ONL/AFN/AKI dont usually report until they have to, so another few months to go yet.... | fft
15/2/2002 07:05 | Reading through the above posts, I feel that there are a couple of really bright minds in fund-raising over here! Perhaps, after having criticised so harshly the method in which a small company with no track record operating in a highly competitive market have raised additional funding in current extremely difficult markets, some of these bright minds would give us their view of how Akaei should have done it! By the way, there hasn't been any comment on yesterday's new game signing and the possible further deals with the German company. Having looked at what is on offer, the deal appears as positive, if not more, than the previous Buka deal. Obviously, all in my opinion. Cheers. marrick | marrick
14/2/2002 23:58 | Pin Yep but the old celebrity look-alike circuit must turn you a few bob :) M | martini
14/2/2002 23:39 | Martini, I tend to call it as I see it, I'm afraid - I blame it on my Black Country roots... I gave up on my political career very early in life.... | pinsticker
14/2/2002 22:50 | Geez Pin if I did not know you better I could be lead to believe you are a little cynical. M | martini
14/2/2002 21:39 | Pin, dunno, let me check :-) | kayak
14/2/2002 18:18 | Kayak, Was that you buying at 3.9p?...... | pinsticker
14/2/2002 10:39 | It looks like some of the money raised is being invested already. It's great to see a games pipeline being formed. Anyone know anything about Lost Souls? LONDON (AFX) - Akaei PLC said it has bought UK distribution rights to computer game "Earth 2150 - Lost Souls". "Earth 2150 - Lost Souls" is due for release in Autumn 2002. No financial details were disclosed. rn | lhami
13/2/2002 23:21 | Pretty spot on, Pin... | kayak
13/2/2002 23:08 | Hood is the MM holding the bid at 3.25p Just imagine the spiel to the lucky investor: "We've managed to get hold of a few AKI shares which we want to pass onto our best customers - this is an absolutely fantastic deal - the quote to SELL them is 3.25p and I'm offering them to you at an absolute steal of 3p. It's the bargain of the century!" What a smelly endeavour. Stew - in my view, the greatest conflict of interest lies with the management of ONL - they own AKI, and have now colluded twice IMO in the hoodwinking (sic) of the small investor - and they own ADVFN - positioned as the champion of the small investor..... | pinsticker
13/2/2002 13:57 | pinsticker, so does that mean one of the two are a MM? How on Earth is it legal for a MM to take a placing in share they deal in? Conflict of interests surely? | stewjames
13/2/2002 13:53 | History repeating itself? Everett and Hood taking 8750k shares each at 2p each and immediately knocking them out at 3p to grateful punters.... Hood have already flogged 4000k+ since Monday Guess who is holding the bid at 3.25p (for 10k only of course)............. From past experience, bid will go below 3p once Everett & Hood have finished their cynical little game.... | pinsticker
12/2/2002 18:41 | Hi JD, You think this is bad - I put my dosh into the main holding company - ONL - On Line PLC (only a bit mind you). You never know, in ten years time, we could both be millionaires, using fivers as toilet paper - or not as the case may be. | netcurtains
12/2/2002 18:06 | I take it that you mean those of us who have invested in AKI don't you. | johndee
12/2/2002 18:00 | Oops. Removed on edit due to missing a nought! So it is the famous double act again. AKI really are being ripped off by these scam artists. | stewjames |
