No, it is not a demo. They are giving the whole game for free for a limited period. Here what it says:

"We have uploaded the full version of Aussie Rules Coach for you. We figure that the best way for you to decide whether or not you like the game, is to let you play it - obvious, really."

"If you live outside Australia you may find Aussie Rules football somewhat bemusing - and so we reckon that the best way for you to judge whether or not you'll enjoy ARC is to play the game. The whole game. And so, we've posted ARC on the site. Not just a "single game demo", but the whole thing, less a couple of videos. (This version game is "time-limited", so you can play a couple of times before deciding whether it's worth buying.)"

Rather, I meant to say 'They're not giving the whole game away for free.'

'Free Games' is a bit misleading... you make it sound like there's a new free games section of which ARC is the first game to be made available for free... unless I misread it, it actually says it's a time limited demo that you can play a few matches with. It's not the whole game.

Recently, Akaei has signed a deal with Rangers Football Club to release a game endorsed by them. I have come across a couple of on-line reports on this deal which mught be interesting. In particular, one of these reports mentions #100k as the cost of this licence. If this was true, then I think that Akaei aren't that much short of cash after all! Also, looking at the Rangers' website, I expect some heavy promotion of this game once it is released. I think that this relationship could do a lot of good to Akaei's image.

The Akaei's website has now been substantially improved. There are now many new sections from where one can get information about the games, present and forthcoming, as well as the opportunity to buy them directly from Akaei.

A new section on the website refers to "Release Dates". Besides the games that are already out, it also shows that Toon Cars is due for release next Friday (19th October), Killer Tanks is due the following week (26th October) whereas the just signed "The Official Rangers Football Manager" is due in Q1 of next year. Also, there is the release schedule of the first two games to be released in Germany, Grouch and M-Alien Paranoia. These two games should be out imminently.

The "Akaei Shop" section is another new area where one can currently purchase eight games by credit card. Shipping and carriage is free of charge! In this section, there are four demos, with the latest addition being that for Giant Killers Euro Manager. Another new addition in this section is a new trailer of the game Echelon. This new trailer is really impressive and breath-taking, one of the best I have ever seen.

There is also a "Free Games" section, with the first game being Aussie Rules Coach.

These are very good improvements to Akaei's website. The only negative I see in these changes is that the links are at the bottom of the page and therefore, some could just unnotice them since the upper part of the webpage has not changed. Perhaps, the links of the new sections should be more visible as soon as one logs onto the website.
