Similar here. Bought Acorn at 18p/share. Now I need to work out the equivalent ARM price for CGT.

Britain's biggest export: technology companies!

Similar story with me, I bought into Acorn in a couple of tranches around 1996 and ended up with a near 40 bagger.

Really not got mine yet. I bought £500 of Acorn in 1993/4. It turned into £40,000 over time. Thanks ARM. Next one is IQE.

I think that the comments made by the Japanese Government at the G20 meeting make interesting reading in the context of the ARM takeover. How can any credibility now be attached to any undertakings given by Japanese companies re uk job protection after such a statement. If I were in Government I would be looking very closely at this acquisition.

Just to be clear:

* It became impossible to trade shares normally on the market when it closed at 4:30 pm this afternoon, and impossible to trade them at all on the market when dealings were suspended at 6 pm.

* The "Effective Date of the Scheme" is expected to be Monday: that's the date that you actually actually cease to own the shares and start to own the cash instead.

* Delisting (i.e. cancellation of the listing of the shares) is expected to be on Tuesday. I believe this is basically just a formality that is needed when a share leaves the market and doesn't affect what you own or what you can do, but might well affect information supplied by market systems and hence things like broker portfolio listings.

* Payment of the outstanding interim dividend is expected by Monday 12th.

* Actual payment of the £17/share takeover proceeds is expected by Monday 19th.

Broker systems vary about how smoothly they handle such situations. In particular, I've known shares subject to other scheme-of-arrangement takeover disappear from broker portfolio listings quite a few days before the payment for them appears. Don't be too alarmed if that happens!

Farmergeorge.

It's a cash deal, you get cash when shares delist. Your broker should have sent you all the relevant info.

Lets hope Arm doesn't become a Cadbury's - quite sad really, despite the cash we have made.
